Death couldn’t hold Jesus because He’s the sinless, sovereign Son of God—resurrected by the Father, loosed from the grave, and triumphant over Satan, Sin, hell, and death.

In Acts 2:24 Peter preaches a Christ who crushed the curse and conquered the coffin—not as a metaphor, but as our mighty, risen King.

For those who bow in faith, His resurrection is eternal life; for those clinging to rebellion, it’s a divine verdict that the Death Killer lives.

At the cross, Christ didn't cry for vengeance—He cried for forgiveness. Even the worst of sinners—Roman executioners, Jewish leaders, and all who rebel—are not beyond the reach of divine mercy. The grace of God, in Christ, is greater than all our sin.

Peter stood and declared what no man would invent and no flesh would accept (apart from the Holy Spirit): that Jesus was delivered up by the sovereign will of Almighty God. The crucifixion was no accident—it was God's Plan from the foundations of the World. Wicked hands drove the nails, but a sovereign hand ruled the hammer- for His Glory, and our good!

God commands men to nourish and cherish their wives as their own flesh—because she is your flesh. Loving her is not optional; it is obedience to Christ and a reflection of the gospel.

Psalm 70 reminds us: God is not distant and disinterested—He is sovereign, good, and near to the brokenhearted. David’s plea is raw, but rooted in rock-solid truth. “Let God be magnified” is the shout of the soul that knows its Savior.

A wife lulled by the world is often married to a man deaf to the Word. But Christ is never passive with His Bride—nor does He turn a deaf ear to Her. He sanctifies and purifies Her, then presents Her to Himself as a radiant trophy of His free and unmerited grace, all through the power of His all-sufficient Word. That’s not soft love. That’s sovereign love. And it’s the very kind of love to which husbands are called.

Biblical love isn’t passive, weak, or sentimental—it’s sacrificial, bloody, and bold. Christ didn’t just say He loved the His Bride, the Church—He bled for her, and husbands are commanded to do the same for their bride. This sermon is a call for men to rise up, lay down their lives, and love their wives like Jesus—with guts, grit, and gospel-saturated action.
