  • Waiting For Jesus - Acts 1:12–26

In this sermon from Acts 1:12–26, Aaron looks at what the early church did while they waited for Jesus to fulfill His promise.

Waiting is rarely easy. Sometimes we know when the waiting will end; other times, we don’t. But this passage shows us that waiting on God is not passive. As the disciples wait, they obey Jesus, devote themselves to prayer, turn to God’s Word, and trust Jesus to continue leading His Church.

Even in the replacing of Judas with Matthias, we see that the risen Jesus has not abandoned His people. He continues to rule, guide, and accomplish His purposes.

As we share these earlier sermons during the planting season of Heritage Hill, our hope is that they give you a window into the kind of church we pray to become: shaped by God’s Word, devoted to prayer, obedient to Jesus, and confident that He is leading His people.

    Two questions to consider:

    1) Am I faithful in the ordinary, unseen areas of obedience—or only when something feels significant?

    2) Do seasons of waiting drive me deeper into God’s Word and prayer, or simply toward distraction?

    Two ways to pray:

    1) Ask God for a heart that trusts and obeys Him even when you cannot see what He is doing.

    2) Pray that Heritage Hill would become a Word-driven, prayer-saturated church that trusts Jesus to lead His people.

  • How Important is the Ascension? Acts 1:9-11

In this sermon from Acts 1:9–11, Aaron considers a part of the gospel story Christians can sometimes overlook: the Ascension of Jesus.

The Ascension is far more than the moment Jesus leaves the disciples. It reminds us that His sacrifice has been accepted, He is reigning now as King, He has poured out His Spirit to empower His people, and He will one day return in glory.

As we share these earlier sermons during the planting season of Heritage Hill, our hope is that they give you a window into the kind of preaching we pray will shape our church: rooted in Scripture, centered on Christ, and aimed at helping ordinary Christians live faithfully in light of what is true about Jesus.

    Two questions to consider:

    1) How does the Ascension of Jesus give you courage when following Him is difficult?

    2) Where do you need to rest in the reality that Jesus is reigning right now?

    Two ways to pray:

    1) Ask God to strengthen your faith to live with courage under the reign of Christ.

    2) Ask Him to deepen your hope as you look forward to the return of Jesus.

  • The Mission Of The Church - Acts 1:1-8

In this sermon, originally preached as the beginning of a series through Acts, Aaron reflects on the story of the local church while taking us back to the beginning of the Church itself.

Acts starts with a small group of believers and traces the spread of the gospel as the risen Jesus continues His work through His Spirit-empowered people. It reminds us that the mission Jesus gave His Church has not changed: we are called to follow Him, bear witness to Him, and make Him known wherever He has placed us.

As we share these earlier sermons during the planting season of Heritage Hill, our prayer is that they give you a glimpse of the kind of preaching and convictions we hope will shape our church: confidence in God’s Word, dependence on the Holy Spirit, and a desire to see ordinary Christians live faithfully on mission.

    Two questions to consider:

    1) Where are you relying on your own strength rather than the Spirit’s power?

    2) Who has God placed around you who needs to hear the good news of Jesus?

    And two things to pray:

    1) Pray for boldness to live and speak as a witness of the risen Christ.

    2) Pray that God would continue raising up men and women who are willing to be sent for the sake of the gospel.
