We’re back! After an unplanned break, a brand-new studio, and a month that genuinely tried to take us out, Herm and Kristin are back behind the mics — recording for the first time at PHP Studios.
Between full-time jobs, coaching, kids, and a September that somehow felt like an entire year, life has been pure chaos. But we survived September… barely.
Herm kicks things off with Herm’s Football Minute, and it’s a wild one. The Vail Vikings had already turned in their helmets and planned the end-of-season party when every single team they needed to lose actually lost during the bye week — and just like that, the Vikings backed into the playoffs as the #16 seed. Their reward? A first-round matchup with the only undefeated team in the entire league. The helmets have been handed back out, practice is back on, and Gordy has no say in the matter.
Then Herm shares what might be the greatest work weekend of his life. Through his job at Waste Management — an MLB partner — Herm got selected for a baseball fantasy camp and spent the day as an Arizona Diamondback: full uniform, his own #13 jersey (Gordy’s number), his own walk-up song, the actual voice of the Diamondbacks announcing his name, and the biggest fan section in the park. And yes… the very first ball hit his way? He dropped it. In front of everyone. Right after Gordy warned him, “You better do good.” (He caught the next two. Redemption matters.)
That story turns into one of our favorite life lessons: just ask the question. The worst that can happen is they say no — and it’s the same philosophy that once landed us a tour of Michael Jackson’s house.
From there, we get into what it’s like being married to your complete opposite: people recharge Herm, people drain Kristin, and September drained her completely. Which leads to one of our realest conversations yet — neither of us needs the other. We have our own money, our own lives, our own everything… and we still pick each other every day. Plus, the official Herm’s House fight rule: don’t touch me, don’t look at me, but don’t you dare leave.
And to close it out, it’s finally official: the inaugural Herm’s House Hero Walk is happening Saturday, November 7. Herm is walking all 11 miles (in a weight vest, because of course he is) to honor our veterans, starting and ending at The Station Pub & Grill and benefiting Hero Breakfast. This week on Herm’s House, we came prepared with absolutely no notes… so naturally, things went exactly as expected.

This week on Herm’s House, the moment Herm and Kristin have been talking about for months finally arrives: it’s time to move Layla into college.

They recap the drive to Texas, navigating move-in day at Texas State, unloading an entire dorm room into carts that somehow only needed to travel about eight feet, climbing stairs with way too many boxes, and realizing that college dorms apparently believe one outlet is enough for an entire human being.

Between assembling furniture, running back out for surge protectors, meeting the roommate, and watching an entirely new chapter of their daughter’s life begin, Herm and Kristin talk honestly about the strange mix of pride, excitement, jealousy, worry, and sadness that comes with dropping your child off and driving away.

This week on Herm’s House, the Hermosillo household is experiencing a little bit of everything: gray hairs, ER visits, college goodbyes, football drama, and some very questionable crossing-guard flirting.
