We can become so entranced by the glitz, glamour, lights, and glory of sports, news,
movies, and television “programming’ (fitting word, right?), that we
lose track of the fact we are constantly being sold something:
sometimes an upgrade to something that we already own, a new car
or a watch, or even a pair of shoes. But often we're being sold
something else, something insidious. More often than not, we're
literally being sold a set of moral standards, beliefs, allegiances or
even lifestyle. Everything from TV to Facebook is offering
something, and we fail to ask some very simple questions.

We proceed to buy the shoes, use the hashtag, nod
our heads and believe the lies or change our values and beliefs based
on the promise made by someone with their own agenda. We must
open our minds to the fact we are being lied to for the gain of others
for business, our government, our churches, the kingdom of this
world.

In this episode of Heroes Wanted I dive into 'The Script'.

Almost all men follow a script for the first 30+ years of their life.

The script varies by culture, family tradition, country, etc. But looks something like this.

School
College, Military or Training of some kind
Job
Marriage
Children

Some of you may have been rebels and skipped a step or changed the order but regardless you followed a script.

The script isn't bad it kept you on a path that is best for your society as a whole, during your most unsettled years.

The issue is not the script, but rather what happens at the end of that script.

Feeling Stuck
Lost
Lacking Purpose
Apathy
Frustration
Doubt
Fear

Very little is what you were told, or prepared for.

Sunshine and rainbows aren't a result of following the script.

The end of the old script can be a golden opportunity to write your own script.

But, there will be work to do.

In this episode I talk with Brian Fleming he is an inspiring military keynote speaker. He is a combat-wounded Afghanistan war veteran, international speaker, and resilience trainer who helps people be more resilient in tough, turbulent situations. He was severely wounded in action by a suicide bomber who exploded 3-feet away from him in Kandahar, Afghanistan and now he teaches strategies for overcoming unexpected challenges.

In this episode, I talk about taking action. Despite of of the rules, despite of the nay-sayers, despite of the hate, you must take action and move forward in your mission.

Lies- "My clan is the weakest and I am the least in my family.
Expectations of Other- His family expected him to act as the youngest, keep quiet, help out, and conduct himself as the least of his brothers.

As we progress thru this year I will continue to seek out Heroes to learn from.

My suspicion is that these three challenges will become a pattern.

If you are ready to abandon average, and uncover the hero within.

Look at your fears, the lies that you tell yourself, and the expectations of others that are holding you back.

Your family, your congregation, your community, and your country are in dire need of heroes today.

In this episode, I break continue to break down the origin story of Gideon in the book of Judges verse six. Fear. Lies. Expectations of Others. These are three of the biggest challenges to abandoning average and uncovering the Hero within.

I started out this year recording a podcast series on Gideon one of the heroes of the Bible.

As I read through the story and meditated on it.

I realized that Gideon took on these three challenges as well before becoming the Hero.

Gideon-

In the first episode of 2022, we break down the origin story of Gideon in the book of Judges verse six. There is a vivid picture of the chaos and devastation of the time, as some begin to call out in prayer an unlikely Hero emerges.

When Gideon is called out, his story begins where many men find themselves today. He first plays the victim card and when those claims are answered, he begins to make excuses and show his doubt in himself.
