  • S03E038: Tier Me Out! #005: Student Habits Showdown 🎒 (Sid+Matthew+Shai Feat. Mr. Heit & Ms. Glauda)

S03E038: Tier Me Out! #005: Student Habits Showdown 🎒 (Sid+Matthew+Shai Feat. Mr. Heit & Ms. Glauda)🦑

This week on Tier Me Out, things get real—because we’re putting the spotlight on the habits that drive teachers just a little bit crazy.

Hosts Matthew, Shai, and Sid are joined by two very special guests: Mr. Heit and Ms. Glauda, beloved teachers at Herricks Middle School. And today, they’re ranking the most "trying" student habits—from minor quirks to full-on Tier S offenses.

    🧠 Here’s what’s up for elimination:

    • Phones hidden behind Chromebooks

    • AirPods in during class

    • TikTok dances in the hallway

    • Repeating the same instructions again… and again 🔁

    • Slang on repeat—those same phrases every single day 🗣️

    • Eating during lessons (is that… a sandwich?)

    • Complaining about homework before it’s even assigned 😩

    • Calling out without raising your hand

    • Wearing hoodies pulled way over your head

    • Random questions that derail the entire lesson 🌀

    • Sneaky Chromebook game sessions

    • Asking to leave early like it’s a hobby

    • Pretending to be “just checking the time” on your phone

😲 The tier list might surprise you. Not every habit lands where you’d expect—and some might even earn a little sympathy from our teacher guests.

If you’ve ever done one of these—or sat next to someone who has—you’ll want to hear how Mr. Heit and Ms. Glauda rank them from Tier S (painfully disruptive) to Tier F (surprisingly forgivable).

    • Who gets more annoyed by hallway TikTok dances?

    • Which habit everyone agrees is a Tier F offense?

    • And… what’s one behavior that actually doesn’t bother the teachers at all?

    S03E037: SRA Collaboration #002 – High School 101

Hosts: Gloria, Avalin, Savannah, Jeel, Maanya

This is our second episode in this first-ever collaboration between Shelter Rock Academy 🏫 and Herricks Middle School 🐾, five HMS podcast hosts team up with students from SRA for an honest and thoughtful conversation about growing up, discovering independence, and preparing for the challenges of high school.

From friendship and confidence to transcripts and regret, this is the kind of real talk that students don’t often get—but definitely need.

    • 🫂 What true friendship looks like

    • 📚 Balancing schoolwork with your social life

    • 😬 Regrets about past choices and how we grow from them

    • 💬 Why speaking up matters—don’t bottle things up

    • 🎓 What it actually feels like to be in high school

    • 🧠 Finding confidence through change

    • 🧍 The meaning of freedom and independence

    • 👥 How building relationships with teachers can help

    • 🗂️ Choosing electives and building your transcript

This episode was created through a partnership between the Shelter Rock Academy Humanities Program (with Mr. Jon Lavas and Ms. Mary Philip) and the Herricks Middle School Content Creation Foundations elective (with Mr. Michael Heit). It kicks off a series focused on student voices, personal growth, and school transitions.

It’s not just about academics—it’s about growing up. This episode shares student voices that are authentic, funny, emotional, and wise. Whether you’re in middle school or thinking about high school, this one is worth a listen.

    🤝 Collaboration and Production:

This episode was created under the direction of Mr. Lavas and Ms. Philip as part of the Shelter Rock Academy Humanities Course ✏️, and Mr. Heit as part of the Herricks Middle School Content Creation Podcasting Class (8th Grade Elective) 🎧.

    🌟 Why This Episode Matters:

This powerful conversation highlights the thoughts, experiences, and hopes 💭 of students during a big life transition. It’s a reminder that while growing up can feel uncertain, no one has to go it alone—and that Herricks is a place where students are heard, supported, and welcomed 🫶.

  • S03E036: Tier Me Out! #004: The Games of Squid Games! 📺 (Sid+Matthew+Shai+Tao)

S03E004: Tier Me Out! #004: Squid Game Showdown 🦑 (Sid+Matthew+Shai+Tao)🦑

The stakes have never been higher in this episode of Tier Me Out—because we’re heading straight into the world of Squid Game! You know it, you (probably) binged it, and now it’s time to break it down… tier-style.

Sid, Shai, Matthew, and Tao tackle the biggest moments, wildest twists, and deepest cuts from Netflix’s mega-hit survival drama. From red-light-green-light to the glass bridge (and yes, that gut-punch of a finale), the team debates: Is Squid Game top-tier TV or an overhyped phenomenon?

    I've played these games before!!!

    🦑 Here’s what’s up for elimination:

    • Best Game: Which deadly challenge had us holding our breath? 😱

    • Plot Twists: Did the surprises live up to the hype… or fall flat? 🌀

    • Cultural Impact: Why did Squid Game hit so hard around the world? Who’s ready for June?🌍

    🔥 Plus:

    • The crew’s pick for Squid Game’s MVP.

    • The one thing everyone would have done differently.

    • And… which host thinks Squid Game doesn’t deserve the crown at all? 👀

If you’re ready for some savage rankings and fierce debates, this episode is a must-listen. And don’t worry—no one gets eliminated (this time).

Our podcast is called In Order. It’s all about siblings and how your spot in the family oldest, middle, or youngest might change how you're treated. We talk to real siblings from HMS to find out if birth order really matters. Was the oldest bossy? Did the youngest get away with everything? It’s a fun way to figure out if growing up in the same family means you had the same childhood.
