Woven throughout Scripture is the recognition that God owns everything. This reality leads to our responsibility in how we manage God’s resources well. This Sunday, we will look at 3 principles for financial responsibility.

In Acts 20, we read one of the most provocative statements that Jesus ever made: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” With this beatitude, Jesus invites us to think about our money and resources differently. However, it’s also a statement that raises all types of questions: Can this really be true? Can we take Jesus seriously? And, if we take him seriously, what does this look like in my life? This Sunday we will begin answering those questions in a new sermon series, as we explore Jesus’ invitation to “The Generous Life.”

If you could change one thing in your life, what would it be? Maybe you would change something about your job, your health, your relationships, or your finances. Yet, the message of Easter challenges us to think more deeply about change. It shows us that our lives can actually be transformed from the inside out. In Proverbs 3:11-12, the author reminds believers that God disciplines those he loves. This chapter addresses a question that is often on the minds of believers today. This week, we are given a glimpse of ordinary men and women who lived an extraordinary life because they lived by faith. Their example has been presented as a model for us to follow. Think about your life and how you are living by faith this week

In Hebrews 10, the author reminds us of the unique work of Christ. He shows us, that as our high priest, Christ has offered the ultimate sacrifice that brings us into a new relationship with God. Of course, even if we understand this, what does it look like to live this out? How do these truths affect our lives on an everyday basis? The author answers these questions by giving us three action steps—steps that we can apply in any season of life, regardless of our circumstances. This week we will discuss three steps that can help you keep moving forward!

Whether we realize it or not, each of our lives are shaped by stories—stories that define our beliefs, values, and priorities. As we continue our study of Hebrews, the author gives us a thorough understanding of the gospel, which should shape our understanding of Christ and what it means to follow him. In a definitive way, the author says: “this is our story.”

When you think about the names, attributes, and qualities of God, what comes to mind? Why is it important for us to recognize Christ as our Great High Priest?

Have you ever done this in a conversation—you stop mid-sentence and ask: “are you listening?” We do that because what we are saying is important, and we are concerned that our message isn’t being heard. In a similar way, the author of Hebrews stops in the middle of this book and asks a similar question. He slows down to make sure we are listening. In doing so, he gives us a challenge, a warning, and lots of encouragement to keep moving forward. So, this Sunday, in the midst of all that’s going on around us, let’s slow down and listen to what Hebrews has to say to us.

The priests played a crucial role in the worship of Yahweh and the Jewish believers would have held the system in high regard. Of utmost importance was the role of the high priest, who once a year was permitted to enter the Holy of Holies and make the atoning sacrifice for the sins of the people. Without the intervention of the high priest, no one could approach God and no sacrifice for sin could be offered. This pivotal segment of the book will show how Jesus was greater than all of the high priests in Israel’s history.
