Hexed Press Tabletop Gaming

Game masters often ask how to get players to be a certain way, whether it be better roleplayers (whatever that means), or more invested in the "story", or more inquisitive, or something else. In this video, I explain why it might be better and more productive to either let go of these expectations entirely, rethink them, or reframe them into something more productive.

Let's discuss worldbuilding via our magic systems. As described in an RPG, magic can be very setting specific or generic. Even if generic, how the magic system works and how spells are described implies things about the setting. If the setting of our campaign diverges from the rules setting, implicit or implied, what sorts of things can we do to fix it?

Here's the podcast version of the video chat I had with Daniel over at Bandit's Keep about Rule Zero and a bunch of other TTPRG topics. It was a great conversation until we were invaded and, unfortunately, overrun by racist hate bots. Still, we covered a lot of ground, and over two hours, before we went out with a bit of a whimper. Enjoy!
