Hexotica | Craft a Self-Reliant AF Alternative Lifestyle with Christine Rice

For digital nomads looking for accommodation and home and pet owners looking for affordable alternatives to kennels, TrustedHousesitters used to feel like a godsend...

Until the day their 2023 private-equity buy-out resulted in the inevitable enshitification of the site, which culminated with a new, ridiculous booking fee in late 2025.

So in this episode of Hexotica's podcast, I share an unhinged rant against TrustedHousitters, but also private equity, hyper-capitalism, the cost of living crisis (especially here in Australia), and the hunt for alternatives to Trustedhousesitters.

I cover:

🪄Why my rage is not just about the introduction of a booking fee but about something much more profound that has to do with the human need for safety - and freedom!

🪄The difference between luxury sites like Airbnb and what I call 'relief' sites based on bartering and goodwill

🪄A list of alternatives to TrustedHousesitters and the surprising advantage I've discovered with one of them!

Listen or watch this episode if you want to take back control from predatory business practices by understanding how and why they so quickly devolve after they are snapped up by private equity!

So in this episode of Hexotica's podcast, I share what's working with Etsy SEO, including:

🪄The brutal truth about Etsy stats (and what It takes to get sales!)

🪄3 Things savvy sellers are NOT doing that could be hurting your store's discoverability
