About Professor Jones

Dr. Christopher Jones is a historian of early America and the Atlantic World. Currently an Assistant Professor of History at Brigham Young University, where he teaches a variety of courses, including U.S. History to 1877, Revolutionary America, Slavery and the Slave Trade in Africa and the Atlantic World, African American Family History, English Language Paleography, and Missions and Missionaries in American History.

Dainan Skeem is the curator of 21st Century Mormon & Western Manuscripts in the L. Tom Perry Special Collections. He enjoys working with individuals in the community and on campus to help them see the importance of their personal and professional papers and to work with them to donate these materials to Special Collections for preservation and access by researchers. He talks with authors, artists, filmmakers, musicians, politicians, business owners, faculty and staff, and any other person who is contributing to the cultural documentation of Utah, the American West, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as the broader context of Mormonism.
