Hey Parco!

Why were the 70s so obsessed with the Devil and Bigfoot? Join the Parcos as each names the Five Scariest Movies that terrified the bejaysus out of her. You don't get less woke than these flicks that feature chicken bone choking, demon dolls and doll-sized demons, creepy whispering kids, furry folklore, cult classics and pod people. Let's get spoooooooky!

The Parcos are Ann and Samantha, two Recovering Gen-X Valley Girls. We met in the 6th grade and after 40+ years of friendship we’ve perfected the art of getting silly together. Now we’re inviting you to get silly with us as we swap tales of our mostly true adventures and a few facts about life as part of the forgotten generation.

Another fun fact is that Samantha lives in northern Germany, while Ann lives in Oregon, USA. So we’re reaching across time zones, miles and kilometers to keep in touch.

Saturday Night Fever or Dark Side of the Moon? Stevie Wonder or Marvin Gaye? Debbie Harry or Chrissy Hynde? Some Girls or Who Are You? They influenced and inspired us and kept us dancing in our bedrooms and in the aisles. Let’s talk all about it: the loss of John Lennon, the birth of MTV, High Fidelity nerd-dom and the wonder of Flexidiscs. Best of GenX: The Age of Vinyl (8-Tracks, and Cassettes) continues in Part Two.

Do you remember your first record album? We hugged it, kissed it, and worshipped at the altar of Vinyl. From teenyboppers grooving to the Jackson 5 to preteens terrified by Bowie, it shaped who we were (and are) and is the very bedrock of our friendship. Join us as we confess our dorkiest music secrets, share what it was like to be a Retrokid in the 80s, and peel back the cellophane to marvel at what’s beneath.

Maybe it was from listening to too much Sgt. Pepper or the influence of the counterculture, but something made toys in the 70s a bit... different. From Holly Hobbie to Evel Knievel, the Magic 8-Ball to the Ouija Board, Bobo the Clown to Weebles that wobbled, we rocked 'em and socked 'em, took them camping with us and sometimes let them make our life decisions. Seriously, what was Stretch Armstrong all about anyway? Come be baffled with us!

This time it’s all about the 70s toys we looooved, some that even helped us through tough transitions, and those that inspire new possibilities today! Hear about: Magic Window & the Etch-a Sketch Buddhists, the First Ride & Hippity Hop Commuting, the Bald Redhead & the Barbie-Q Ban, Puberty Skipper & the Canned Meat Hypothesis, and Baking by Lightbulb & the Telltale Frosting Soul Patch. Fun for kids 8 to 80!

From Mod to Madonna. From Flashdance to Flounces. We encased our heads in potato cannon propellant, sexed it up with Victoria's Secrets, set our eyelids on fire, discovered proto-type leggings, checkered Vans, princess seams and vintage wear. Being a couple of recovering Gen-X Valley Girls has been a long, strange trip trying to kick the black blazer habit and finding ourselves on the precipice of Easy Spirit land.

Sliding from the 70’s into the 80’s, the Parcos discuss surviving California’s golden age of serial killers, civil unrest, and getting bombed in the 90’s (and we’re not just talking alcohol). Featuring segments like: the Schoolgirl & the Shell Game, ‘Weird Al’ & the Bus Ride, Nightclubs & Nightcrawlers. You too shall wonder how the heck we made it to the 21st century!

The Parcos explore their treacherous Gen-X trail starting as latchkey kids in the 70's & 80’s, playing with killer toys (from Click Clacks to Slip n Slides) and wandering feral in the mean streets and wood-paneled family rooms of the San Fernando Valley. Segments include: Stranger Danger & the Latchkey Kids, Poisoned Candy & the Cold Medicine, Tween Pranks & the Algebra Teacher (all great band names), and more.
