  • Hey Poor Podcast Episode 74: Everybody’s a Nerd For Something
“I Am The One Who Crowbars”

It’s kind of a loosey-goosey episode this week, since there’s only two of us and we had to go a little off-book in order to fill the time.  But it’s all the better for it, because if there’s any duo you can trust to be funny enough and opinionated enough to carry the show by themselves, it’s I “The Next Anita Sarkeesian” Coleman and Bethany “The Dirtiest” Meadows.  Gather round the podcast trashcan fire as we discuss films, games, sports, I’s new status as a card-carrying SJW (according to YouTube commenters), and how much better Half Life would be if its protagonist was Walter White.  It’s a fun, lighthearted show for fun, lighthearted people.
Games of the Week: Destroy All Humans, Dragon Age: Inquisition, tabletop roleplaying games, the new protagonist of Half Life 3, Inside, Battleborn and Overwatch, Grand Old Academy
Audience Questions: making one change to the gaming industry, the future of virtual reality, favorite films
The News: Steam’s new screenshot policy, Swery65 retires, the new Sega MegaDrive, Sombra the new Overwatch character

  • Hey Poor Podcast Episode 73: Have Your Priest on Speed Dial
“Sponsored By Space Ron’s Space Trailer Emporium”

This week on the Hey Poor Podcast, your host I “Eyeball” Coleman is joined by Anthony “Spooky” Spivey, Jonathan “Terror” Trussler, and Editor-in-Chief Francis “Dismemberment” DiPersio for a real COFFIN BANGER of an episode.  The scariest thing about it? We’re releasing two days after Halloween!  Are your ears brave enough to withstand such frights as I messing up the intro three times?  How about jokes making fun of MENINISM, or Bethesda’s GHOULISH anti-consumer practices?  All this and more on the Hey Poor PodGHAST…ly…listen, they can’t all be winners.
Games of the Week: Dragonball Xenoverse 2, GAMES FOR MEN, Pokemon Platinum, Mafia III (spoilers from 10:16 to 11:22), New Game, Titanfall 2, Battlefield 1, Weeping Doll, Ace Banana, King’s Quest, Clockwork Empires, Radical Heroes: Crimson City Crisis, Day of the Tentacle, Thimbleweed Park
Audience Questions: Worst game you’ve ever played
The News: Bethesda, EA, and Square Enix withholding review copies, the future of the 3DS, the manufactured scarcity of the Nintendo Switch, the death of Evolve, Kingdom Hearts’ re-re-re-re-re-release, Halloween games

  • Hey Poor Podcast Episode 71: DLC For Dogs
“Fewer Than 7,000 People Have Heard of Jesus”

It’s a slightly shorter episode this week, thanks in large part to Audacity eating one of our guest’s audio, forcing us to edit them out completely.  But the podcast that burns shorter burns more brightly as our host I “Wicky Wicky Wild Wild” Coleman is joined by Bethany “The Punisher” Meadows, Anthony “Trapped in Bad Anime Hell” Spivey, and Jonathan “I. CARE. A LOT.” Trussler to discuss some controversial topics this week, including racism, anti-semitism, and the ever-dreaded feminism.  But it’s not all seriousness, as we also chat about dogs, anime booby games, Shadow Warrior 2, and a long-awaited conversation about Luke Cage. We even got to some news this week!
Day-One Talking Points: Life in hell, Princess Maker 2, Mafia III, how to address racism in games, superhero maternity leave, terrible anime, ReLIFE, DLC for Dogs, Westworld, Shadow Warrior 2, Luke Cage and the Marvel Netflix shows, giving the Klan a zero out of five, Red Dead Redemption 2 teaser, RockStar games, Beyond Good & Evil 2 pre-production, the Ubisoft Expanded Universe, Feelreal VR, the barriers of virtual reality

  • Hey Poor Podcast Episode 70: The Quickening of I
The Age of Jay Has Ended The Hey Poor Podcast is back, and as Jay starts disappearing Marty McFly style, a new host appears to take his place. Join I “I Talk Too Much About Doom” Coleman, Jay “I Bump The Microphone Like I Have A Personal Vendetta Against It” Petrequin, and Jonathan “Everything The Light Touches Is Mine” Trussler as we talk about a surprising number of things that aren’t videogames. The first half of the show is fairly scattershot as we take a “no rules just right” approach to talking about games we’ve played recently, but the second half brings it home with some deep discussions on films, writing, Internet culture and even a surprisingly introspective conversation on the life of a game…
