Spooky Season continues with my friend Hayley M. joining me for an episode full of stories that get creepier the longer you think about them.

We start with listener submissions, including eerie encounters inside a World Market, unexplained crashes caught on surveillance audio and a childhood story about my sister Amy that appears to connect her to a deceased relative named Cleo. Then we head to Reddit for terrifying skinwalker encounters, a deeply unsettling mime and the infamous Smiling Man.

Some stories are allegedly true, some are pure nightmare fuel and all of them are perfect for Halloween week. We finish with much less terrifying plans for our Halloween costumes. 🎃

My sister Amy joined me for what was supposed to be a simple fall snack taste test. We tried everything from pumpkin spice treats and Zomberry Kool-Aid to a deeply unsettling gray Spooky Ranch. Hello, Hidden Valley. What exactly was the vision here? After plenty of questionable bites, our mom’s pumpkin blondies easily took the crown.

Naturally, we stayed on topic for approximately three minutes. We also revisited Amy’s past Halloween costumes, talked about her favorite scary movies and shows, and wandered through more tangents than I could possibly summarize. Nathan was watching the Rams game in the background, so you’ll also hear live football reactions, fantasy commentary, and the soothing sports narration Amy apparently falls asleep to.

Spooky Season continues with my sister Carrie joining the pod again to revisit the face paint ghosts of Halloween's past. We sat down and dug through old photos, called our mom to settle a childhood costume mystery, and relived the homemade looks that ranged from genuinely impressive to delightfully unhinged.

From Corpse Bride and a wolf to Pennywise, cracked dolls, skulls, and Shrek’s dragon, we share the DIY tricks behind years of Halloween transformations using liquid latex, toilet paper, wax, and whatever else we could find. We also picked our favorite looks, brainstormed future creations, and asked listeners what looks we should attempt next!
