HLH and HLW cut out alcohol and other substances early in the program which is harder for some than others, but it's necessary. Why? Substances take the edge of discomfort off and inhibit oneness, unity, and growing up that is necessary for vulnerability within marriage.

Also, if you aren't the one who has or is working on giving up substance reliance, you must put on a heart of flesh that overflows with understanding for your spouse as he/she walks through this process in submission to Holy Spirit.

I was co-leading a mediation session between a hurting Christian couple last week, and the Spirit kept urging me to see this husband's lonely heart, to see this wife's hurting heart, and to help them see each other for the first time as 2 broken, hurting, but redeemed people. 

In in this episode, Chelsey challenges you to put off division and to pray the hard prayer that aligns your heart to the Father's: " God, help me see him like You see him." This is a key to having a heart of flesh and God removing your heart of stone in your marriage.

Did you know that 66-75% of young adults raised in the faith, walk away from the faith in their years following leaving the nest? Rather than the allure of being exposed to all new stuff they didn't previously have access to and now they do, might it be a LACK of witnessing the fruits of marriage God's way in their own parents' marriage that led to a disconnect in faith for them? That they saw more hurts, offenses, and lack of intimacy than they saw the fruits of the Spirit on display of 2 people living in the unity of one flesh....

Let' dig in... because more is caught than taught. They are learning and it will be passed down to more than just your kids.

Galatians 1:6-9 reveals the highly likely reason for where you are in marriage today: Anything that is Jesus+this or Jesus-that is a false gospel that keeps you stuck, frustrated, in conflict and not walking free. 

Dive into the one, true gospel and be free! You have received mercy; now walk free in it! Marriage is ground zero for this sanctification process to be magnified so you can be multiplied together pulling in the same direction, the very essence of God's mercy for the whole world to see. Not of either of you that you could boast but the power of God working in and through you both!
