LVIII: Killer Party (2016)

High On Film

We found the footage of THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT for today's show with actor CHASE MCCOWN! Chase takes a trip to an orphanage, Chris Loves Cal Ripken, and we flush out the finer details of the Blair Witch mythology for our pre-Halloween episode! Go see Chase Tuesday nights in the Inner Sanctum at UCB Sunset and follow him on twitter @mchasemccown!

We continue our exploration of horror tropes with 2015's THE FINAL GIRLS and guest CARLY WALSH! We play Trash/Star/Destroy with all kinds of meta-movies, discuss the problems between parody and homage, and leave a surviving virgin on today's show! Follow Carly on twitter @goteamcarly and instagram @scrltbegonias!

Kicking off the Halloween season with a deconstruction of what's to come, comedian JEN MURRAY returns to watch THE CABIN IN THE WOODS! We get into some other Joss Whedon scripts, Chris hates bugs, and we conclude with an in depth talk on the desensitization and voyeurism in the horror genre on today's show!

Actor BRANDON BLACK is back on the show to watch the original LETHAL WEAPON! We watch the director's cut, play Trash/Star/Destroy with Shane Black's Christmas movies, and love on the end credits titular song! Look for Brandon on Fox's 'Lethal Weapon' on October 12th and on HBO's 'Insecure' soon! Follow him on all the social media platforms: @Brandon_f_Black on twitter and instagram, BrandonFBlack on Snapchat, and BrandonBlackActor on facebook!

It's time for our yearly pilgrimage to the LOS ANGELES PODCAST FESTIVAL! Chris and Brad count down their favorite years of film live from the Podfest and we squeeze in some unaired games and segments from over the last year of High On Film! Tune in for more from DAVID JACOX, CARLY WALSH, CLARKE KOHLER, DAVID DEGROW SHOTWELL, and AUSTIN TRIZINSKY on today's show!

Our friend, AUSTIN TRIZINSKY returns to the show to re-examine Robert Altman's POPEYE! We remember Faerie Tale Theatre, define a Prairie Oyster, and imitate an almost unintelligible Robin Williams for today's show! Follow Austin on instagram @austintriz and tune in next week for our annual LA PODCAST FESTIVAL show!

This week, WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY joins us to watch CARLY WALSH! Wait. Strike that. Reverse it. We remember Gene Wilder in the wake of his passing by discussing Johnny Depp's career, defending Mike Teevee, and doing impresions of the late, great comic actor! Follow Carly on twitter @goteamcarly and on instagram @scrltbegonias!

Are you ready for some podcast?! The return of football sees the return of BRENDAN MCCARTHY to the show to watch THE WATERBOY! We debate the good and bad sides of Adam Sandler's career, discuss unintelligible characters, and ask Siri about Nelly's bandaid on this week's episode!

The dog days of summer are here, so we brought dog owner and television mogul LIZZIE DONALDSON back to watch HOMEWARD BOUND: THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY! Brad watches the movie again, Chris wonders about the Humane Society's approval of the original, and Lizzie is a single dog dare on this week's show! Follow Lizzie on twitter @lizziedonaldson and check out 'Black-ish' and 'The Good Place' this fall! Check your guide for local listings!
