ST. PAUL — Luverne High School’s Cece Rock reached the 155-pound girls state championship. Cassy Gonzales from Apple Valley recorded a 7-4 sudden victory over Rock in perhaps the most thrilling female title bout. Bernie Rock, also of Luverne, pinned Hutchinson’s Gabriella VonBerge for fifth place at 118 pounds. Morris Area-Hancock-Alberta-Chokio’s Ava Gamrith, a promising eighth-grader, won her first bout at 106 pounds — pinning Wayzata’s Athena Carpenter in 1:30.
