Thread of the Week:
Podcast Suggestion Thread!
Here’s another thought I was having. Somewhat like a previous pod, but more on moderate rigs. We all get caught up on 60/80’s, rockwells and 40+ tires but sometimes 33-35’s are more of a challenge and you can take it on a road trip to Yosemite National Park. I think we are getting a little too far past our roots. I love beef and the extreme tech but I don’t want some of the new people to think you have to have it to get started. Just some thoughts on a long work day…
Main Topic: Off Road Basics

What makes a 4 wheel drive different than a 2wd vehicle?
How do I get started?
Things to think about…
4 high or 4 low?
Listener Feedback:
The new show is great and I’m excited for what’s in store! This is mostly about tires that is relevant to the show. I have a 2013 JKUR on stock suspension and I am going 37×12.50×17 Nitto Trail Grapplers on Evo Bolt on Coilovers. Greg I know you’re debating tires constantly like I was and maybe have things to consider.
-I think 38×18 would not be wise because it’s an odd size. Was on a trip where someone went through 4 tires! And we were in the middle of nowhere. Rare case but there were not 38’s available.
-Also I think 37’s are the limit on the stock axles. As you already know not every 37 is the same. Even though Nitto and Toyo are the same company, the Toyos looked bigger side-by-side. Also the Toyo’s are wider and E range, so I think the toyo will be harder on stock axles. Didn’t have this thought before buying tires and I want get the most out of my stock Rubicon parts.
For a little constructive criticism I think you guys should do some Google searches during the show. I know you don’t because it will interrupt the cadence of the show. But during discussions you follow up a lot of talking points with “I don’t know” or ” I can’t remember.” For me this makes it difficult to concentrate on the topics because as soon I hear I don’t know my brain automatically tunes out whatever comes next.
Thanks for putting a out a show that is getting so much better!!
