Welcome to episode 42! Laurel kicks things off with a story about a Black woman named Henrietta Lacks, who passed away from an unbelievably aggressive form of cervical cancer.  Her legacy runs deep and wide as the same cells that took her life help science and medicine in life-saving and astonishing ways to this day.  Unfortunately, as much as we have all been impacted by her legacy, there has been a decades long injustice that still continues to this day.  Next, KT gives a nod to the late Queen Elizabeth II with a story of the lineage and centuries long history of the British Royal Family.  Her story also loosely connects with her other story "How the Kingdom of England Began" from episode 34.

Whew, It's a long episode title! It's nearly as maxed out as the fun we had making it!  It's Laurel's birthday weekend and she wanted to throw a little party in the smoke circle and invite some friends over.  Aaron Odom from Euripides, Eumenides: A Theatre History Podcast comes by to hang out with the sisters and share some stories about entertainment in Ancient Rome, which was usually violent and bloody (but also free!) Next, Laurel dives into the story of Doña Ana Lezama de Urinza and Doña Eustaquia de Sonza, also known as the Valiant Ladies of Potosí. History calles them sword and gun toting lesbian vigilantes who cleaned up the city of Potosí...if they existed.  Together, we explore the folk history of these ladies, what parts of their story may or may not be true, and what socio-economic, religious and colonizing influence was had over this story (and others like this!)  True or not, it's a damn fun story!

Welcome to episode 37! In this one, Laurel talks about The Third Wave Social Experiment that was conducted at a Palo Alto, California high school in a 1967 contemporary world history class.  Within a very short span of time, the experiment gets out of control--both for the students and the teacher conducting it and it leaves everyone with a bone-chilling outcome...

Next, KT tells the story of Operation: Anthropoid which was the only successful assassination of a high-ranking officer of Nazi High Command: Reinhard Heydrich (and good riddance if we can say so!)

Have you heard about the Lavender Scare?  It began in the late 1940s and continued for over 30 years, effected thousands of lives and yet it is one of the least known about events in American history.  During McCarthyism and the Red Scare, while Senate subcommittees were going after Communists in a very public way, they were also searching for, finding and purging LGBTQ+ individuals working in the federal government.  KT takes part 2 of the episode with the legend of Robin Hood.  Was he a real person?
