A couple of months ago, cohost Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter job search site was minding his own business, walking his dog, and listening to The Chad & Cheese Podcast. The guest was J.T. O'Donnell of Work It Daily, a professional coaching and training company.
One of the many pieces of wisdom she shared was that it is already more important for employers to be authenticated than authentic. Wow. What an amazing revelation. Simple yet brilliant and profound.
On today's episode, JT and Steven are joined by our other cohost, Jeanette Leeds, to discuss why and how employers need to be authenticated even if they're already being authentic.

Halloween is the perfect day for the Internet gods to play a trick on a video podcaster. Well, those gods didn't disappoint.
Moments before guest Thad Price, CEO of Talroo, was to join cohosts Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter and Jeanette Leeds to talk about ghosting, the Internet gods decided to cut power to the neighborhood into which Steven moved yesterday. But fear not, you tricksters. Thad, Steven, and Jeanette regrouped via hotspot and Zoom.
In today's episode, Thad defines what candidate ghosting is, why it happens, and how Talroo and other recruitment marketing leaders are helping employers of all sizes avoid it.

No matter the industry, long-time vendors (or those who have worked for any vendor for a long time) can be great sources of information. But nothing compares to getting advice from a practitioner in your profession.
Today cohosts Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter and Jeanette Leeds are joined by a practitioner who is also a veteran and great at providing advice. Dennis Tupper of Wells Fargo joins the podcast to talk about some of the more unusual high-volume hiring challenges he's faced (phlebotomists, anyone?) and how he -- and therefore you -- can overcome those challenges.

Brigadier General Christopher Amrhein of the U.S. Air Force is our guest today.
The conversation flies by (pun intended) as Gen. Amrhein shares data regarding the numbers engaged, interviewed, and "hired"; improvements to the process; and examples of how everyone plays an important part.
This episode was even more meaningful to cohost Jeanette Leeds as her grandfather, Dr. Leonard Leeds, was a major in the Air Force, served in England during WWII, and flew missions over Germany. Our other cohost, Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter, grew up in Canada and immigrated as an adult to the U.S., so the discussion of accelerating naturalized citizenship particularly resonated with him.

Programmatic advertising is nothing more than computers instead of people making decisions about what ads to run when and for how much money. Typically, humans used to (and often still do) decide that an ad for an engineer in Dallas should run on job boards A, B, and Z from a certain date until a certain date and with a cost-per-click (CPC) of $X. With programmatic, the machines make those decisions.
Today's guest, Kenny Wright of Advantage.ai, walks us through the accidental creation of the company and explains the benefits of programmatic advertising for employers who are hiring at scale. Spoiler alert: the benefits vary, just as the needs and wants of the employers vary.
Our cohosts, Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter and Jeanette Leeds are big fans of programmatic job ad buying, especially when used by employers with high-volume hiring needs.

A key to a successful recruitment advertising campaign is getting the right opportunity in front of the right candidate at the right time. But what if the right candidate isn't actively searching for a job, or isn't using the media that you're using?
Today's guest, Sam Beiler of Boostpoint, comes at the problem with an unusual approach: instead of trying to force these candidates to find and apply through traditional sources like job boards or LinkedIn, reach them in an efficient, effective manner through Facebook, Instagram, and even TikTok.
Our cohosts, Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter and Jeanette Leeds find out from Sam the surprising answer that explains why they're not currently working with LinkedIn, what campaigns work well on social, and how one advertiser gets 10 times as many hires as another by better understanding how to market their high volume roles on social media sites.

We believe that the vast majority of employers, especially the larger ones that do the bulk of high-volume hiring, want to pay, reward, and advance their employees fairly and consistently. But how do they know what fair is, and how do they communicate that to their employees?
Join Cohosts Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter and Jeanette Leeds as they interview Nancy Romanyshyn of Syndio, which builds expert-backed technology that helps companies measure, achieve, and sustain workplace equity.
And thank you to our sponsor, idibu, for providing many of the world's leading employers with software that allows employers to distribute jobs from their ATS to their favorite job boards with just a few clicks.

If you love listening in on conversations that blow your mind due to something brilliant said, then you're going to love this episode.
Katrina Kibben of Three Ears Media joins cohosts Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter and Jeanette Leeds. Kat is, without a doubt, a brilliant recruitment marketer, including but not at all limited to writing effective job posting ads. Why? Plenty of reasons, but chief among them is that Kat knows what questions to ask and then really knows how to listen not just to the answers, but to specific parts of the answers.
By the end of today's episode, sponsored by job distributor idibu, you'll understand that AI-generated job posting ads are no better than copying and pasting a posting for a similar job offered by another employer and, more importantly, what a better approach is.

There's been a lot of talk in the TA tech space about the Mobley vs Workday lawsuit. Mobley, a Black man, alleges that he was discriminated against by Workday's AI-powered ranking system as it caused him to be rejected by 100+ employers who use the Workday ATS.
Cohosts Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter and Jeanette Leeds are joined for this special episode by John Sumser, VP of Marketing for Salary.com and one of the world's foremost experts in AI for HR tech, and Heather Bussing, an employment lawyer, law professor, analyst, writer, editor, and author of the book, "Get Pay Right: How to Achieve Pay Equity that Works"
Do all ATS rank candidates so some are effectively or actually rejected by the software? No, but some do. Does that create legal liability for the employer and TA tech vendor? Possibly. Is the lawsuit and the position taken on it by the EEOC the end of the story? Probably not, as it seems to be only the beginning.

David Tell, the Co-Founder of Kwal, joins Cohosts Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter and Jeanette Leeds to learn more about generative, artificial intelligence, voice agents and how they can save employers time and money by allowing them to interact, by phone, with thousands of candidates in a personalized manner.
One use case is hiring for call centers, as those customer service representatives need to be comfortable speaking on the phone, but David also shares with us other industries where the tech has met with success including construction and even nursing.
Big thanks for our sponsor, idibu, for helping to make this and other episodes possible. If you're hiring a lot and therefore likely advertising a lot, you're going to want to check out idibu's ability to automate the distribution of your jobs from your ATS to just about every major job board.
