In this episode, Ian speaks with Adam Gopnik. For decades, Adam has been one of America’s most beloved writers. He is best known as a staff writer for The New Yorker and as the author of nearly a dozen books, including his latest, "The Real Work: On the Mystery of Mastery".
In the book, he apprentices himself to an artist, a dancer, a boxer, and even a driving instructor, where he finds that mastering a skill is a process of methodically breaking down and building up, piece by piece—and that true mastery, in any field, requires mastering other people’s minds.
