Asceticism, angel worship, and obsession with visions elevate experience over Scripture and lead believers away from clinging to Christ. The antidote to mysticism is holding fast to Christ through His Word and His Church, where true growth and nourishment are found.

Legalism is a distraction from Christ. It is looking at our performance as the ground of Christ’s acceptance. It is fixation on the shadow of Christ, not focus on the substance of Christ. It is resting in ritual for Christ and not rejoicing in relationship with Christ.
