In this July 2022 interview, Dr. Jim Henderson was serving as President of the University of Louisiana System.  As of January 2024, Dr. Henderson joined Louisiana Tech University as President. Dr. Senthil Nathan and Dean Hoke spoke with Dr. Henderson about the University of Louisiana System, a multi-university campus system with an enrollment of approximately 90,000 students. In a wide-ranging conversation, Jim discussed the university system, his and the university system’s commitment to lifelong learning, and the critical role of higher education.

In this July 2022 episode of Higher Ed Without Borders, Dr. Senthil Nathan and Dean Hoke speak with Dr. Allan Goodman. Dr. Goodman is the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of International Education (IIE) and has held the position since July 1998.  IIE promotes the exchange of scholars and students, rescues scholars, students, and artists from persecution, displacement, and crises, conducts research on international academic mobility, and administers the Fulbright program sponsored by the United States Department of State.  The Institute collaborates with a wide range of corporate, government, and foundation partners across the globe.  108 of its directors, grantees, and alumni of programs administered by IIE are recipients of Nobel Prizes.

Dr. Goodman is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the selection committees for the Rhodes and Schwarzman Scholars and the Yidan Prize. He also serves on the Council for Higher Education Accreditation International Quality Group Advisory Council and the Board of Trustees of the Education Above All Foundation. Dr. Goodman has a Ph.D. in Government from Harvard, an M.P.A. from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a B.S. from Northwestern University, and is the recipient of honorary degrees from Canadian, European, Japanese, UK, and US universities. Before joining IIE, Dr. Goodman was Executive Dean of the School of Foreign Service and a Professor at Georgetown University. His books on international relations are published by Princeton, Harvard, and Yale University presses. He has served at the Department of State and the Central Intelligence Agency. 

Higher Ed Without Borders interviewed in June 2022, Dr. Frank Dooley, chancellor of Purdue Global. Purdue Global has an enrollment of approximately 36,000 students, most of whom earn their degrees online. 

Prior to becoming Purdue Global chancellor, Dr. Dooley was senior vice provost for Purdue University, where he earned an international reputation as a gifted and innovative teacher, as well as a creative researcher.  Dr. Dooley, received his bachelor's degree from St. John's University, his Juris Doctor from the University of North Dakota, and his doctoral degree from Washington State University. He came to Purdue's Department of Agricultural Economics in 1998.

In this episode, which first aired in June 2022, Higher Ed Without Borders speaks with Dr. Ehab Abdel-Rahman, the Provost of the American University in Cairo (AUC).  The university, founded in 1919, has over 7,000 undergraduate and graduate students from over 60 nations. He is the Chief Academic Officer and provides administrative leadership and oversight for all academic components of the University. As Provost, he has twice led the re-accreditations of AUC by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)  and the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education “NAQAAE.”  Dr. Abdel-Rahman holds his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Physics from Helwan University in Cairo and his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Utah.
