Today we see the teachers and scribes declare that Jesus is crazy - he has lost his mind. But Jesus makes his intentions clear when he teaches those, who care to listen, about their need to stand with His kingdom agenda. And to those who stand against his kingdom they are sure to fall.

This morning Jesus is sending out twelve disciples to proclaim the message. Why twelve? What is Jesus telling us for our time and place? Join us as we hear this sending and embrace its meaning for our world and time?

It’s Easter and Mark has a story to tell. The women have come to the tomb expecting to find the stench of death and instead discover life and new creation! Join us as we celebrate the reality of the resurrection as we embrace the hope of Easter saying: “Go ahead - you will see him!”

Jesus was followed everywhere. Large crowds longed for healing and belonging. Yet this morning we hear the “unclean spirits” cry out and exclaim, “You are the son of God!” What can we learn from even the spirits and chaos of the world crying out to Jesus?

When we think of Jesus we usually don’t think of negative or heavy emotions apart from the cross. But today we hear Mark describe Jesus with the emotions of both anger and grief. What is grieving and angering the heart of God? Join us as we dare to explore the strong emotions of Jesus; the one who came to save.

It is no secret that Jesus came to bring a fresh perspective to an old law. And, while the sabbath and sabbath keeping were key pillars of the law Jesus had a new way of seeing this commitment. This morning we explore afresh the invitation to listen to Jesus proclaim his desire to be Lord of the sabbath.

When Jesus teaches he uses all kinds of stories and images. It is no different in this morning’s text when we hear Jesus announce his desire to pour new wine into fresh wineskins. Join us as we explore the ways we can embrace the fresh wineskins of our world and time.

When Jesus eats at a home he usually eats with all the wrong people. In fact, his message is clear; he didn’t come for healthy people but for the sick. This morning we are reminded of how Jesus invites those who are sick to sit at the table and find a place to belong.

This Sunday morning we join Jesus as he returns home. And while teaching, a holy disruption comes crashing through the roof. The gathering is left to watch while the scribes wonder at His authority. Today we ask ourselves this question: Who are we in this story and what authority will Jesus have?

Once there was a leper who wondered if Jesus would “choose” to make him clean. And Jesus, as the embodiment of a love that “moves,” chooses to make the leper clean. Join us as we ask Jesus to choose us - to move toward us - and to make us clean.
