Why is mentoring important for male youth?
Research shows these mentoring relationships make a big difference to young people. A study published by The National Mentoring Partnership reports young adults with mentors are 55% more likely to enroll in college, 78% more likely to volunteer regularly, and 130% more likely to hold leadership positions. Dylan Roos’s story can relate to these findings.
“I grew up with one of Australia's most famous athletes and coaches as my father. This allowed me to develop leadership skills from an early age having being brought up around football clubs with plenty of positive male role models. My mum is a meditation teacher with a PHD in parapyscic sciences. This allowed me to have a healthy balance of the practical and the spiritual which plays out daily in my life and my work.
I started working with men in 2018 and have loved every minute since.
My "WHY" behind my work can be simplified into a 3 points.
I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety and want to change the landscape for men and the mental health conversation.
I remember being a young man, being lost and purposeless.
The main conversation in society today being around "toxic masculinity". I want to highlight the positive sides of masculinity and its necessity to men and society.” He joined me this week to tell me more.
