2020. Not the beginning of a new decade for which we imagined. Starting with the tragic accident involving Kobe Bryant, a global pandemic, the unruly death of George Floyd, and the current increase in social unrest, the history books will need a boundless chapter to document the amount of monumental information regarding these uncharted times. • Right of Passage College Experience > Zoom University
Many colleges and universities around the country have fully transitioned to what has now been nicknamed “Zoom University”. At first, the news constituted humor and American students were excited to see how online class would play out. Now, we are over a month in and have witnessed dozens of shortcomings with the new system; realizing our tuition money is not worth the sub-par online learning experience. With states, politicians, and even universities starting to accept this as the “new normal”, some important questions that students have been asking include: “Is getting a college degree even worth it now?”, “If school is online during the fall semester should I take a gap year?”, or “Why don’t we all just drop out?”. These examples are a few of many relevant debates we want to address. Join us for this episode, where we dissect everything surrounding the current climate of American education during the COVID-19 Pandemic and how college-life may change in coming years.

  • America’s Wake Up Call
Given the current climate of America at the moment, Jordan and Ella feel that it’s an important time to discuss the pandemic that is disseminating the global economy. We’ve all faced an incredibly abnormal couple of weeks, with a rollercoaster of emotions, derailed plans, health scares, loss of resources, and a wide range of anxieties. Well, we’re here to shed some light on the subject. Although it seems like everything in the news has been negative, there ARE some positive aspects of COVID-19. From increased mindfulness, artistic expression, and self-care, to the scientifically improved ozone conditions, more folks spending time with family, and a great opportunity to slow down for a bit, there are some upsides to the dark situation. Hopefully people will stop ravaging stores for unnecessary items, like toilet paper for example, but until then, we must be smart, stay healthy, take care of ourselves, and social distance if possible. Obviously, not everyone has the luxury of doing that, due to work or other demands; however, if you so should have the capability, please do. We’ll get through this together ❤️
