Hey Yall! 👋🏾 This week, we are taking a break from our current theme of Black Masculinity to bring you a special episode that will give you hope and remind you, especially Black children, that you matter. In this episode, we will be reading a story that celebrates the lives of Black heroes who fought for justice and equality.
The story we will be reading is Little Black Lives Matter by Khodi Dill and illustrated by Chelsea Charles. This rhyming board book features fifteen inspiring Black heroes of the past, including Harriet Tubman, Malcolm X, and Rosa Parks, among others. Little Black Lives Matter empowers all children, but Black children especially, by affirming that their lives, however little they may yet be, matter. Each hero's powerful words and actions are incorporated into the story, which encourages young readers to find their own inner hero and recognize their self-worth and agency.
In a world where there are so many disheartening things happening every day, reading has always been a source of hope, inspiration, and imagination. We hope this episode will serve as a grounding reminder that you can always come back to.
So join us as we celebrate the lives of great Black heroes and empower all children, especially Black children, to know that their lives matter. We'll be back next week with a dope guest on our regular theme of Black Masculinity. Don't forget to tune in!
