We begin a new Christmas series entitled, “This Present Glory,” where we are exploring the incarnation of Jesus, and, more specifically, why Jesus came. The prologue to John’s gospel describes the epic nature of Jesus’ journey from heaven to earth. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, so that we could see God’s glory shining forth. This week we consider the gift of God’s presence in the person of Jesus.

John 1 tells us Jesus came to restore God’s presence with His people. And redefine it. What does it look like for the infinite God of the universe to be tangibly present in a moment of heartache?

We begin the Advent season with a reflective look at Jesus’ coming through the lens of Isaiah’s vision of the great light that came into the deep darkness.
