We're deep in the rainforest again in this episode, enjoying good coffee and great conversation next to a stream. We talk about more snake encounters, hiking with dogs and also hiking with kids and our responsibilities as parents.
What better way to return from a 1 year hiatus than recording deep in a rainforest? That's right, there isn't one! We obviously talk about coffee but also about snakes, otter attacks and even hiking.
Having the opportunity to speak with Linda Åkerberg on this episode was something I'd looked forward to from the first time we spoke and now I'm really excited to be able to release this episode so that everyone can learn something from her. With the title of Female Adventurer of the Year 2019, Linda also speaks to us about her other passions as an author, outdoor photographer, mountain climber and Kayak Instructor. Linda has so much trail knowledge and she happily shares that with us in this episode.

Why is choosing a new hiking backpack so difficult? Apart from an endless list of brands, models and sizes, there is the added pressure of making the correct choice given that a new pack is such a big ticket item. When you consider all of that, it's not surprising that it can be extremely overwhelming for both beginner and veteran hikers.

We recently embarked on our wettest hike in a long time. I'm talking, so wet that roads were flooding and campsites were closing. We tell you all about it in this episode, including yet another leech encounter for Craig, and it's a good one too.
We also share some news on the third woman to complete all 158 summits of the Able Mountains, a crazy story of mountain climbers in the 70s when a Drug Plane crashes into a Yosemite lake. We also discuss "wet-out" in your rain gear and how to fix it.
And if you aren't sure if you are considered one of the 17 worst hiking partners in the world, then you better take a listen to put your mind at ease, or at least help you change your ways.

Against a backdrop of ambient rainforest sounds, a gurgling stream and various bird calls, we brew coffee while discussing brewing coffee. We also chat about shoes around the campsite, an upcoming episode to help you choose the right backpack.
It is said that you learn more from your failures. If that is the case, then we should have learned A LOT about hiking, more specifically, what not to do on a hike.
There's an art to taking kids into the wilderness, keeping them entertained, engaged and safe, but also creating an experience that they want to be part of next time. That goes for the parents or carers too. If you don't enjoy the process and adventure, then you won't be as inclined to jump at the next opportunity.
In this episode, we share all of our tips and recommendations to help steer you in the right direction when planning and embarking on an outdoor adventure with children. It doesn't have to be as intimidating as it first appears and we give plenty of insights and tangible advice based on what has worked for us in the past with our own families. It's time to get those kids outdoors and start introducing the next generation to the wonders of the outdoors. This episode might just be the last last piece of the puzzle you've been looking for!
