Listen in where I contradict myself on every sentence. So no podcast on the hike this week, a hike with no audio and me explaining why.
I am getting ready for the next big hike in two weeks. So all the hikes until then will be local and covering old ground (pardon the pun).
This is a lovely walk if you have time to do it and the pay off is exciting.

February 08, 2024 Around Mersea Island... this time all the way round!
This is my second trip in fours years to Mersea island in Essex, it
is roughly 22km all the way round.
It took me four
hours to complete with only a couple of minor muddy areas and this
winter time.
I drove for an hour
and 15 to get there and the weather was fresh but clear. The island
was quite quiet but I did manage to speak to one person who was
walking her dog along the beach.
I am considering
going back in the spring and camping, a very enjoyable afternoon
walk.

I think, decidedly, the Tascam won out over the Yamaha in the sound department. In
this episode's photos you'll see both of the devices sitting on my desk
and my silent cohost, Babycat. She was very quiet, although she did a
few laps around the basement while I was editing the show.

January 27, 2024 Back to the start - West Cornwall
Marazion to Penzance in west Cornwall.
I return to the place of the very first hikenpod and walk along the south west coast path in the wind with a cough.
It's a bout a 3 mile mile on the flat, with some beach cover if you are interested. You get an amazing view of St Michael's mount and St Michael's bay, with a distant vista of Lizard point.
The hike took a couple of hours and I wasn't trying, there is a video of the walk on youtube if you have time.

hikenpod Montana: Pete's Hill, Bozeman with the Gallatin Valley Veterinarian Support Group

What a lovely morning with my family and the Gallatin Valley
Veterinarian Support Group out on Pete's Hill in Bozeman, Montana. We
did this hike just before Christmas, 2023.This
is a great little hike that's almost right in town. You could walk from
much of the Bozeman lodging and hotels. It's steep-ish, but not too
bad. You can make it a short hike or extend almost as long as you like
to different trails in town called Highway to the Mountains. And it's
dog-friendly (as you can see, we brought ours.)We cut ours a little short when we found a friend's dog who'd gotten out and was about 9 blocks from their home.And
Jamie, my wife, a.k.a. Dr. Arndt, is a Veterinarian in town and started
a support group for area Veterinarians. Their profession suffers from
abnormally high rates of depression, drug abuse and suicide due to the
high demands physically, mentallly, and emotionally on them. The
Gallatin Valley Veterinarian Support Group hold events like these to
bring local veterinarians together to share struggles and build

time, I think we'll do a skinning, snowboard and snowshoe trip to the
South Bridger Mountains which is basically out my front door. Get in
