One of the most haunting questions we face concerns the problem of evil. Why is there evil in the world if there is a God? Why isn’t He doing something about it? Many assume that the existence of evil disproves the existence of God.
When you think about being a Christian there is a lot of conflict and a lot of tension and how to be a faithful Christian who simultaneously loves their community and neighbors and loves God when your neighbor and God disagree on a lot of very important things – how can you be that mediator in some way, that person in the middle that continues to love God and their community in spite of some of the differences that exist between the community and God.
And so if you are a Christian, you’re continually faced with all kinds of questions, like how do I approach alcohol? How do I approach cigarettes? Or certain kinds of music? Or certain kinds of clothes? Or sexuality? That alternative lifestyles?

It is crucial for properly understanding what God is like, how He relates to us, and how we should relate to Him. But it also raises many difficult questions. How can God be both one and three? Is the Trinity a contradiction? If Jesus is God, why do the Gospels record instances where He prayed to God?
Some picture it this way: God is at the top of a many-sided mountain. On one side is Islam. On another is Hinduism. Still another, the way of Christianity. Then Judaism, Confucianism, tribal religions . . . you get the picture. Each side presents an equally legitimate path to the same destination.
In contrast to this optimistic image, many Christians claim that the only true and valid way to God is through Jesus—a claim often considered intolerant and narrow-minded.
So which is it? Do all religions lead to the same place? Or is Jesus truly the only way to God?
The Christian faith requires belief in the Bible. This is a big stumbling block for many. Most would say that they know there are many great stories and sayings in the Bible, but today “you can’t take it literally.” What they mean is that the Bible is not entirely trustworthy because some parts—maybe many or most parts—are scientifically impossible, historically unreliable, and culturally regressive. But is this true?
For all that James has said and commanded he knows we are going to fall short. He says commune with the living God, have a relationship with him.
True wisdom is built upon the foundation of humility, and false wisdom is built upon the eroding brittle foundation of arrogance.
