Jesus taught that the greatest commandment was to Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. God sent his angels to assure Mary and Joseph that he would be with them through the uncertainty of giving birth to Jesus and raising him. What might it look like for you to be an angel (difference maker) in the life of someone facing an unplanned pregnancy?

In Luke 4:18-19, Jesus summarized His life mission with the words, “set captives free.” When you consider you own life, can you see how and where you’ve been set free? As a follower of Jesus and one who’s been transformed, how can you help others experience freedom through Jesus’ love?

A difference maker is one who celebrates the new life they have in Jesus by bringing His life to others. The resurrection of Jesus changes everything about the way we live our lives. Jesus rose from the dead to give us new life in the here and now. With this new life, we are called to become difference makers and bring life (the hope and presence of Jesus) to the world.

The resurrection of Jesus removes the obstacles so we can have a new life. And in this new life through Jesus we’re meant to make a positive impact in the world, bringing this same new life, hope, and love to others. Because Jesus rose from the dead, we can be re-storied by God. Our life can take on a different shape, trajectory, and story. Consider the hope, grace, mission, and more that you receive as a result of the resurrection. When you think about your life, how do you see that Jesus has most changed you?

What stands out most to you about the suffering and love of Jesus on the cross? As you consider the image of Jesus on the cross, consider both how you’ve been changed and what might be clouding your vision of Jesus’ great love and sacrifice for you.
