It has been said that children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” In other words, parent are to be proactive in making the right impressions on their children, and if the parent declines their role, the culture our children participate in will be more than happy to place their fingerprint of ungodliness in your child’s character.

Today we come to Part 2, “REAL WOMEN,” in our sermon series “REAL.” As I mentioned in the message last week on “REAL MEN,” to attempt to cover all there is in Scripture about “REAL WOMEN”--in one setting!--is like trying to take a drink of water from Old Faithful: it is simply impossible.

C. H. Spurgeon wrote of Psalm 1: “It is an old saying, and possibly a true one, that every man is seeking after happiness. If it be so, then every man should read this Psalm, for this directeth us where happiness is to be, found in its highest degree and purest form.”

One week following our Resurrection Celebration Service we find ourselves in the third and final sermon of our series entitled “Last Words.” Having looked at “It is Finished” and “He is Risen,” we now turn our attention to the Great Commission as found in the book of Acts: “you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses...” (Acts 1:8).

Usually when you read a note or hear a voicemail saying that someone is not there, you become disappointed or even discouraged, especially if it was someone that you had really hoped or desperately needed to see.

“LAST WORDS” will be our theme today and the next two Sundays. We will be looking at three “LAST WORDS” which we read regarding the conclusion of Jesus’ earthly ministry. Today we will look at one of the “LAST WORDS”, “It is finished” (John 1:30), that Jesus spoke while on the cross.

We live in an era of declining values and moral decay. All around us are signs of failure and fatigue. It seems that many are simply tired of the struggle for good and right, and have just thrown in the towel. Even among the stalwarts of righteousness, the cries for standing up for the present and the future are falling on deaf ears. Fear and hopelessness are evident throughout our society. Sin is taking a deadly toll on us and our nation. It is time for the church to take action.

As we conclude Matthew 20, Jesus is entering the final week of His earthly ministry. He’s on His way to Jerusalem and will soon be betrayed, arrested, and crucified. The crowds will clamor for His blood and cry “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!”
