Rev. Curt Walters
1. What was this man’s sin? (Leviticus 18:8, Deuteronomy 22:30, 27:30, 1 Corinthians 5:9-11)
2. Our attitude about sin is key. (Acts 3:19, 20:21, 1 John 1:9)
3. What’s so bad about yeast? (1 Corinthians 5:6-8, Exodus 12:15, Mark 8:15)
4. It’s our responsibility to judge other Christians. (1 Corinthians 5:12-13, 6:3, Matthew 7:1-6, Galatians 6:1)
5. Paul supports the practice of church discipline. (Matthew 16:19, I Corinthians 5:2-5,11-13, 6:1-5, Hebrews 12:10-11)
6. Repent and believe the good news! (Mark 1:15, Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:5-7, 5:18-20
Next steps...
- Invite the Lord to convict you of any sin in your life and to turn away from it so that you can be forgiven and walk with Him. (Psalm 139:23-24, Acts 3:19)
- Read and reflect on Acts 3:19: “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord...”
- The next time you hear someone say that we aren’t supposed to humbly and gently judge others, point out that the Bible actually invites us to judge people who claim to be Christians, but that we should let God judge people outside of the church. (1 Corinthians 5:12-13, 6:1-5, Galatians 6:1)
