Hello Hillside! This Sunday, we are continuing our Advent Series, He Shall be Called! We looked at Wonderful Counselor last week. This week, we’ll explore the name Mighty God. And wow, oh wow, it’s remarkable. Hopefully, seeing how Jesus is Mighty God will be a surprising gift as we move further into this Christmas season! It is going to be so wonderful to be together!

When I was in fourth grade my older cousin Sean, who my brother and I looked up to as an authority on most things, scientific and otherwise, told me about an astronomical phenomenon that instilled terror in me. Although I've gotten over the fear, I'm still intrigued by this fascinating and horrifying deep space curiosity. What was it, and what does it have to do with this Week 1 message from our "He Shall Be Called" Advent series? Join us this Sunday morning on the hill at either 9:00 or 11:00 to find out. In addition to Communion, this worship service will be full of inspiring elements so please don't miss it. Friends, Advent is a sacred season for celebrating the coming of King Jesus. So, if we're able, let's all of us Hillsiders attend in person to savor that joy and to give our King the honor he's due. Besides, everybody at Hillside is looking forward to seeing you!

Ever had an experience that at first jostled you but then left you with lasting joy? I've had several, but the one I'll be talking about this Sunday in my Week 13, "Flourishing Trees" series sermon, is from just last summer. That turbulent but triumphant experience is somewhat like the experience we get from this week's passage, Matthew 7:13-23 (read it now to get the turbulence over with). This Sunday will be a special one at "new Hillside", mainly because we'll be back in our beautiful worship home after several months of "camping" in the Community Center. Friends, the "flood" is over. Like Noah and his crew exiting the ark, we're back on dry land! Really hoping to see you for this new start. Remember, your presence alone advances our Hillside mission to 'Help everyone know and follow King Jesus." So please join your church family in person if you're healthy and not on a road trip!
