Lil Durk’s federal murder-for-hire trial is heating up, and one of the biggest developments so far is the testimony of former OTF associate Kacey “OTF Jam” Hester.
In this episode of the Hip-Hop Uncensored Podcast, we break down OTF Jam taking the stand for the prosecution and giving jurors a firsthand account of the alleged 2022 plot to kill Quando Rondo — an attack that ultimately resulted in the death of Quando’s cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson.
Jam testified that Lil Durk was involved in the alleged plot and described conversations he says took place following the 2020 death of King Von. According to Jam, Durk was frustrated by the trolling that followed Von’s death and allegedly made statements suggesting people would be financially taken care of if Quando Rondo or Lul Timm were caught.
Jam also walked jurors through the trip to California, the alleged preparations for the attack and an earlier attempt to target Quando that was reportedly abandoned because of police activity. Jam has admitted his own involvement in the shooting and has entered a plea agreement with federal prosecutors.
But Durk’s defense team is fighting back.
Attorney Brian Steel aggressively cross-examined Jam, confronting him with previous interviews, prison calls and communications that the defense argues raise serious questions about his credibility. Steel highlighted instances where Jam initially told investigators he had never personally discussed Quando Rondo with Durk before the shooting, before later providing additional details about conversations he says occurred around other people.
The defense also revealed communications involving Jam and fellow cooperating defendant Kavon “OTF Vonni” Grant despite restrictions intended to keep the men separated. Jam denied discussing the case with Vonni and maintained that Vonni was not the mastermind behind the operation, telling the court that he believes Vonni was following orders.
Meanwhile, Durk continues to maintain his innocence. His attorneys argue that Vonni — not Durk — organized the alleged operation, including securing vehicles, hotel rooms and other logistics. The defense also disputes the government’s claim that Durk financed a murder-for-hire plot, emphasizing that prosecutors have not produced evidence of an actual bounty payment.
With multiple cooperating witnesses, surveillance footage, phone and travel evidence, disputed statements and Durk’s own music being examined during the trial, the battle now centers on a major question: Will the jury believe OTF Jam and the government’s cooperating witnesses, or will Durk’s defense convince them that these witnesses have incentives to shift the blame onto Lil Durk?
We break down OTF Jam’s explosive testimony, Brian Steel’s cross-examination, the prosecution’s case, the defense strategy and everything you need to know about the latest developments in Lil Durk’s fight for his freedom.
