Just as God kept his promise to David, in spite of his sin, God will keep his promise to us.

While your past and present sin might drive you further from God, it doesn’t necessarily drive Him further from you.

This is the message of Christmas: God has drawn near to those who have drawn away from Him, and those who have been drawn away from Him.

Matthew 1:1-16

This unlikely list of unlikely people may be the greatest chapter on the grace of God in all the Bible! In these forgotten names from the past, God turns the spotlight of his holy grace on fallen men and women, and through their lives, we see what the grace of God can do.

Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” 1 Kings 19:3-4

An anxious heart will weigh you down, but scripture says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, we present our requests to God, and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, at that point, will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus.”

Today we’re continue our series on fear by looking at the fear of intimacy.

Fear of intimacy is a feeling of discomfort with emotional or physical closeness, often stemming from childhood trauma, neglect, or fear of rejection. It can manifest as avoiding physical contact, difficulty being vulnerable, or maintaining a facade of perfection.

2 Timothy 1:7

God has not given us a spirit of fear, and yet, so many people live paralyzed by fear, especially the fear of being rejected. This does not come from God, and today we are going to let God’s word empower us to overcome the fear of being rejected.

For some of you, this is your greatest fear: Failure.

If you let it overtake you, it will cost you more than you can ever imagine, and your greatest fear, failure, will lead to your greatest pain, and that is regret.
