History Creeps

This week, Chris and Johnny look forward to the new year by looking back at some of the weird things that happened over 2021. Tongue eating parasites, haunted houses for sale, and lumber aisle exorcisms are just a few examples of how strange the last year has been.

This week, the guys are back and Johnny concludes his two part story of the Stayner Family. In the late 90s, a series of murders near Yosemite National Park sparks a manhunt that would lead to the family that decades earlier experienced a traumatic experience themselves.

This week, the guys are back and Johnny brings the first in his two-part story of the Stayner family. When 7-year-old Steven Stayner is abducted in Merced, California in 1972, it would set into motion a horrific nightmare that would last eight years. Sadly, it wouldn’t be the only time the Stayner family would make the news.

Recorded before Halloween, on this episode of That’s Odd, Chris tells Johnny about the story behind the prolonged disappearance of Domino’s Pizza’s most popular mascot - the Noid. Then, Johnny tells Chris about strange events that occurred in October of 1903 in which a number folks in a small Iowa town witnessed a mysterious half-animal, half-human winged creature that terrorized them over several nights in the course of the week.

Here it is, the highly anticipated (we think), much talked about (mostly between ourselves) episode of the podcast this year - The History Creeps Halloween Spooktacular. Who will claim the title of Pumpkin King of Creeper Clubhouse? Listen and find out.

On this episode of That’s Odd, Johnny and Chris discuss a couple of mythical creatures. First, El Coco has been whispered about from generation to generation in Hispanic communities throughout the world, scaring children into behaving. Then, there is a story of a lizard man in South Carolina that is known to inhabit the swamplands around Ore Swamp.

On this episode of That’s Odd, Johnny and Chris are joined by their friend Matt Johnson (The 2-Pt Conversation, Retro Pop, The Panel Discussion, Eat Sleep List) to discuss one of Matt’s favorite cryptids, Bessie. One of Lake Erie’s most iconic figures, reports of Bessie date back to 1795 and would be spotted a multitude of times over the next 200 years.

This week, Chris is on vacation, so Carter and Johnny decide to discuss some of their favorite UFO cases.
