Remember When with Harvey Deegan

History of the WRAAF with Judy Bland

Listen Later

This year marks the 80th anniversary since women were permitted to join Australia's Air Force - a feat achieved following years of lobbying during World War 2.

The Women's Auxiliary Australian Air Force (WAAAF) was the largest women's service of WW2. It paved the way for the Women’s Royal Australian Air Force in 1950, and the full integration of the forces in the decades that followed.

The WA branch of the WRAAF's team are organising an event to celebrate the anniversary this year, so Harvey organised a chat with WRAAF WA Branch President, Judy Bland, to talk about the history of this important women's organisation.

If you're interested in attending the April 25th event, please contact 08 9311 4401 for availability.
