I'm back with another interview episode! In this one I chat to Dr Sig Sønnesyn about all things Aristotle... we discuss Aristotle's theories, the nature of knowledge transmission through time, and the Aristotelian revolution in knowledge itself. And if you want to know more about the Aristotelian revolution in knowledge, you can find Sig's work on Robert Grosseteste's adaptions of Aristotelian theory in The Scientific Works of Robert Grosseteste, Vol II (2023). We're back for Season 2! And to kick it off, today's episode is an interview with the brilliant Dr Gonzalo Velasco where we discuss the reputation of history's ultimate evil queen... Bloody Mary. Drawing from the research in his new book, Habsburg England (2023), Dr Velasco suggests that perhaps Mary doesn't deserve her bloody title. Listen to find out why...

It's time for another interview episode! Today I'm talking to Dr John Reeks about Charles I. Don't worry if you don't know much about the history, that is exactly what we try and tackle in this episode. We start off with some history content to give you a bit of insight into Charles I, the Civil War, and his 'personal rule'. Then we make this relevant, by considering Charles' treatment in academic and public history.

I'm back for episode 6, and it's a very exciting one... it's the first ever interview episode! I talk to Dr Beth Rebisz about the interesting issue of whether museums tell us the truth or not. Then I ask Beth some more specific questions about her work with the Museum of British Colonialism, and about how this work challenges the traditional narratives which we see in museums about British colonial history. This episode will make you think about whether museums can really be trusted or not...

I'm back for episode 5 and today I'm talking about Henry V, the Battle of Agincourt and The King (2019) - which of course has Timothée Chalamet in the leading role. If you haven't seen the film don't worry, I describe what happens in it, so you won't be confused. In this episode I argue that the film draws on feelings of nostalgia and patriotism. Do you think that is a good or a bad thing?

Today's episode is about Elizabeth Woodville, the wife of King Edward IV, who has gone down in history as the 'White Queen'. Maybe you recognise her from the TV or book series which tells the story of their marriage? The marriage has been blamed with causing Edward's fall from power - but I argue that this is not the case. Have a listen to find out why!

It's episode 3 (!) and today I'm talking about medieval mysticism. Don't worry if you're not sure what that is, I explain all of that in today's episode. Although this podcast is about a lesser known topic, I talk about why knowing about female medieval mystics is still important in the 21st century.

I'm back for a second episode! Today, I talk about whether we can, or should, brand medieval people as racist. This is a really relevant issue, because the issue of race and the Middle Ages is a crunch point in pop culture today. Have a listen to find out more...
