Hit The Dek podcast

This week we have a bunch of warm, matronly dek stories to tell you about.  Hockey for a great cause, hockey honoring inspirational ladies, and hockey as a family business.  All in time for that most cherished of holidays.

Happy Cinco de Mayo.

The die is cast.  The 2018 Rose Charities hockey tournament has come and gone.  This week we welcome John Lenhart back to the podcast, as well as newcomer Chris Artun, to talk about how it all went down.  (Hint:  There's thrills of something and agonies of something else.)  Live vicariously with us.

(Apologies for this week's audio quality.  Something foul is afoot.)

This week we welcome a favorite guest back to the podcast.  Kevin Frost...  Come get your interview!  He's here to talk about what's new in the RSHL, including a sweet new tournament in July.  That's going to be one to pay attention to.  Plus, the NHL's goalie interference rule is changing.  If only we knew a goalie who could talk about it.

Also, James would like it to be known that Aerosmith's 1993 album was Get a Grip.  So no emails, okay?

They say charity begins at home, and you won't have to go anywhere to hear about some hockey raising money for good causes.  Just stay right where you are.  Or don't.  We're living in the future.

What were we talking about?

Oh yes, charity.  Specifically, ball hockey for charity, and how some players are getting in tip top shape.  They'll need to be for the longest ice hockey game ever.  Played for what?  Take a wild guess.

This week on the podcast we are joined by Mr. John Lenhart.  John has a lifetime of ice, roller, and dek experience, and he's here to share the benefit of that experience with all of us.  John's a great guy, a great father, and a great interview.  Come get you some.

Happy Holy thing.  This week we're being lazy, and passing the savings on to YOU!  We're back in the car for a Road Trip discussing long-distance tournaments, Catholic Opening Day, and not getting towed.  We'll be back with a full one next week.  In the meantime, don't Pass over this Scrimmage.  (Booo!)

You know what's sad?  A national ball hockey tournament canceled due to lack of funds.  You know what isn't?  A hundred kids getting to scrimmage with Stanley Cup champions.  Speaking of kids, did you know that they're streaming youth hockey games in DC?  The heck we say.

Hunker down.  A Nor'Lent is blowing through.

It's St. Patrick's Day weekend, and you know what that means!  Yeah, okay, you'll get that too, but you're also getting to know The USA Under-14 World Ball Hockey Team.  Come for the offensive stereotyping.  Stay for the hockey.

Goalies.  We talk about them a lot on HIT the DEK.  This is one of those episodes.  We talk about other stuff too, but definitely goalies.  What goes through their heads when they give up a goal?  Hoo boy.  Buckle in.  Plus, dek hockey is fun, sure, but also healing?  Who knew?  And ball hockey for the cure?  Let's do this thing.

Relax, recline, and replay.  It's pod time.

Ooh, Happy Friday!  It's just you and us, how does that sound?  This week we're talking about Hilary Knight and her hyperintelligent piece of mobile technology.  That's right, wearable sensors that bring a whole new dimension to hockey statistics.  Plus, do you want to know about a website that's letting kids learn about and play any winter sport they want?  Yeah you do.

Please don't skip this episode.  We can't stand losing you.
