August 02, 202679. Last Week of These Particular MetsThis week on Hits Different, we answer the mailbag question that we attempted to answer last week before a technical problem intervened. Sorry!! We also learn why the sky is blue—thank you Listener Matteo. We're entering the dog days of summer, but that's okay. And soon, a bunch of our beloved Mets will be taken from us and redistributed throughout MLB, hopefully to teams we can bring ourselves to root for down the stretch. Do not send Tyrone to the Philadelphia Phillies!!! David Stearns I will find your house!!! PROGRAMMING NOTE: We're taking next week off to process the trade deadline together. (Actually Kait and Producer Nathan will be honeymooning on the continent.) We'll be back the following week to introduce all of the 19 and 21-year-olds who are soon to be New York Mets. July 25, 202678. Would You Give a Child YOUR Home Run Ball?On the way to the beach and no time to write a description for this episode. Um, the Mets beat the Phillies at their home. But only God knows what's in store for the rest of this cursed summer. Let's go Bart! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information....more1h 5minPlay
July 17, 202677. Clam Chowder Egg RollEllen is the bravest woman in New York City, and she ate the clam chowder egg roll. About half of this week's Hits Different is about that—what else would you like us to talk about? The sick fools calling for the Mets to trade Francisco Lindor? They are going to hell and it's not polite to discuss that!!!! Just a few weeks after the Heat Emergency episode, Ellen, Dave, and Kait are forced to bring you the Wildfire Smoke episode. If we're inappropriately cruel about Bryce Harper, just know that we were prepared to pull this episode down if he perished of smoke inhalation during Thursday night's game. Send us questions about baseball and send us stories about your favorite minor league ballparks that we should add to our bucket lists—[email protected]Let's go Mets? [Cough] Hosted on Acast. July 10, 202676. A Bunch of Really Normal Baseball GamesThe Mets won two games in Atlanta, both of which were normal. Then they came home and lost a game to Kansas City in a way that was perfectly normal. "When you meet a girl you don't start kissing her right away"—how many people talk about their relationships with their married coworkers. Dave, Ellen, and Kait are back in the regular studio (different room of Kait's apartment) and talking about the upcoming trade deadline (eek!) and the new Women's Professional Baseball League (sick!!). Poor Jared Young got a game-winning RBI on a hit-by-pitch and poor Matt Seelinger... that's it. Poor Matt Seelinger. There's just no way you can stop watching this baseball team. Let's go Mets!! July 04, 202675. The Heat Emergency EpisodeGuys it is so hot!!!! This week on Hits Different, we're podding from floor. It was too hot to pod in our "studio." We're talking about Carlos Mendoza getting fired (kind of, I think we actually skimmed over that a little), Steve Cohen popping off on a podcast in an unproductive fashion, and how HOT it is. Juicy report on mascot culture from Listener Mark. Let's go Mets? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information....more58minPlay
June 26, 202674. It's 1962 Again in QueensThis week on Hits Different: We didn't know that Carlos Mendoza was going to be fired when we recorded!!! So we don't talk about that. Instead, Ellen, Dave, and Kait discuss the first time that every member of the Mets infield committed at least one error in the same game since 1962. A wonderful historical achievement. The Mets also gave up more than 50 runs in a week, allowed Bryce Harper to hit for the cycle, watched Kyle Schwarber hit 3 bombs in an hour, and raised Dansby Swanson's OPS by 60 points in four days. They traded David Peterson to the Cubs. He's surely happy to go. Anyway, happy Pride!!! Let's go Mets... Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information....more1h 20minPlay
June 19, 202673. A Bloop and a Blast and a Doink Off the Foul PoleWelcome back to Hits Different!!! Sorry for taking a week off—we were all getting married. We're back and talking about the past 12 Mets games, all of which we remember with perfect clarity. Ellen has TWO egg rolls to review. Kait has a Citi Field Game Day Experience TM to review. When you get to the part where David is recapping the history of the Mets's Triple-A team and the New Orleans Baby Cakes come up please click this link to see the horrible mascot we're talking about. When you get to the David's Hometown Dates segment please click this link to see the horrible flag we're talking about. Let's go Mets!! Hosted on Acast. June 05, 202672. We Need to Talk About SwaggyThe Mets vanquished all of their demons by sweeping the Miami Marlins at home, and then they flew out to the Pacific Northwest to be a little embarrassing again. Mark "Swaggy V" Vientos responded to criticism by saying "I have to give myself props." This week on Hits Different, Ellen, Kait, and Dave report from a dank cave to talk about the pitchforks that are out for Swag, the lore behind the fake stat "game-winning RBI," the ethics of gambling and the ethics of having a 40-year-old ballboy who is dealing drugs to the players. Send us questions, we love them!!! [email protected]Let's go Mets! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information....more1h 23minPlay
May 30, 202671. Our A**es Are in the Jackpot AgainTen years ago this week, Mets manager Terry Collins begged for one more chance to try to kill Chase Utley—and you know what? He was right. This time on Hits Different, David breaks down an iconic moment in Mets history. Also, Kaitlyn reveals another irritating feminist stance she has been stewing over, and Ellen receives some thrilling information in a voicenote from Listener Thalia. We talk a bit about the 2026 New York Mets as well, but there's only so much we could say about what happened in Miami. You gotta believe! LGM!Send us questions at [email protected]!! Hosted on Acast. May 22, 202670. A New Baby Met Every DayWe were so back, then it was so over, then we were so back again, and then it was a little bit over. And next? Who knows! This week on Hits Different, Ellen and Dave recap their first Subway Series experience, and we get into conspiracy theories about why the Mets briefly gave Gary Carter's number to new Baby Met Nick Morabito. (Morabito has since switched to #55, in honor of Dicky Lovelady and/or Ryne Stanek.) The Yankees broke Clay Holmes leg and I had to see Brett Baty strike out on the side of a hotel in Times Square. But then Tyrone Taylor broke the Yankees and Brett Baty hit a home run into a dumpster.Francisco Lindor may be back in June!Who is your all-time favorite Met?
