Hitting Play

Join Scott and Kevin as they continue into the future and review the second part of the pilot for the highly anticipated series about a group of individuals with special abilities assembled by a time traveler from the 22nd century to stop a despotic ruler from conquering the world: DC's Legends of Tomorrow! Listen as they discuss the many issues with Hawkman and Hawkgirl's memories, the logical flaws of the "Amon dagger", the coincidences in the story surrounding alpha particles, their problems with the climactic fight, and much more! Should disruptions in the timeline happen instantaneously? Do the "Back To The Future" rules of time travel apply here? Where were the 1970's incarnations of the "Hawk-couple", and why have they neglected their son? They talk about it! So choose to fish instead of cutting bait, listen to the show, and set an alarm clock in case you pass out!

And look for our review of Part One in last weeks episode!

Join Scott and Kevin as they review the first part of the pilot for the highly anticipated series about a group of individuals with special abilities assembled by a time traveler from the 22nd century to stop a despotic ruler from conquering the world: DC's Legends of Tomorrow! Listen as they discuss, in detail, the characters in this show from their mostly golden and silver age origins in the pages of DC Comics, to their live action debuts in the various shows of the "Arrowverse". They'll talk about the troubles of trying to tell a good time travel story, what characters they liked and disliked, and the interesting acting choices by Wentworth Miller. So grab a timeship, set a course for this episode, and enjoy the show. Oh, and try not to disrupt the timeline! (Just kidding! Very few things actually bother the timeline, it seems.)

And look for our review of Part Two in next weeks episode!

Join Scott and Hamish as they take a ridiculously close look at the Netflix original video that is taking the world by (wind?) storm: Oscillating Fan For Your Home! Listen as they breakdown every little detail, including the window, the sunglasses, the books, the exciting glass of ice water, and, of course, the fan itself. They'll discuss the video's possible therapeutic properties as a sleep or relaxation aid, its possibility of being a facet of a larger story the camera is facing away from, and how it holds up as a piece of experimental art. They'll speculate, scrutinize, and propose "fan" theories that'll make your head spin...like, you know,...a fan.

Join Scott and Steve as they party like it's 1999 and review "Breakaway" the first episode of an oft-forgotten campy piece of 70s science fiction: Space: 1999! From its strangely placed funky theme song, to its bland, impractical uniforms, they talk about it all! Listen as they detail the adventure of the newly appointed Moonbase Alpha commander, John Koenig and Dr. Helena Russell (played by a disgruntled Martin Landau and his, at the time, wife, Barbara Bain), as they attempt to solve the mystery of the cleverly named "Meta-probe astronaut virus infection" (which also might be radiation or magnetism) and...oh yeah, while they are working on the case, THE ENTIRE MOON breaks away from Earth's orbit! They'll also discuss the show's rocky start, from personal problems among the cast and crew to technical issues in the filming and production, and how this entire series was really intended to be another season of the previously failed sci-fi series "UFO". So zip up your sleeve, grab a cup of introspective tea, and laugh at the future of 1999 with us!

Join Scott and Hamish as they travel across space and time to review "Close Rick-counters of the Rick Kind", an episode of the most outrageous animated sci-fi comedy to ever air on television: the hilarious Rick and Morty! Listen as they discuss Rick and Morty's beginnings as The Adventures of Doc and Mharti, a series of shorts made by Justin Roiland for Channel 101, to his teaming up with Dan Harmon, and getting picked up by Adult Swim. They'll also discuss the mobile game "Pocket Mortys" and its connections to this episode, the popular comic books based on this series, as well as some crossovers with Gravity Falls and The Simpsons. From the easter eggs you may have missed, to pancakes' syrup absorption rates, to visiting some parallel universes of their own, Hamish and Scott cover it all! So sit back on a human, use your pizza to order a tasty phone, and enjoy the show! Wubba Lubba Dub Dub!

Join Lily and Scott as they review "Black Tie", a hilarious episode from the Emmy winning first season of one of television's greatest comedies: 30 Rock! Listen as they chart the origins of the series, from Saturday Night Live head writer Tina Fey's proposed sitcom about a cable news network to almost getting shelved by a pair of NBC executives. They'll also discuss the uproarious yet tragic character of Prince Gerhard, a sickly European noble (played by Paul Rubens) who falls in love with his birthday party crasher Jenna, the volatile ex-wife of Jack (played by Isabella Rossallini), and how Kenneth and Tracy play the metaphorical angel and devil on Pete Hornberger's tired shoulders. From the star-studded cast of Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, and Jack McBrayer, to the great tone set by great music and the bustling New York City setting, it's no wonder why it's considered one of the all-time greats. So celebrate your body and your mind, have a glass of champagne (if you can safely metabolize grapes) and enjoy the show!

Join Lily (making her triumphant return to the show for Winter Break) and Scott as they review one of the funniest shows on television today, the show about one business school grad's attempt to help struggling small business owners: the hilarious "Nathan For You"! Listen as they breakdown every detail of "Electronics Store", (the season three premiere) featuring host Nathan Fielder's attempt to use one chain electronics store's own price matching policy against them and buy a van full of one dollar TVs for Alan, the manager of a small struggling television store. Tiny doors, Craigslist, live alligators, psychologists, reality dating shows, tuxedos, and love, this episode has it all! They'll talk about Nathan's other great ideas that have taken the world by storm, such as the viral video "Hero Pig Saves Goat", the rogue coffee shop "Dumb Starbucks" and the weight loss plan called "The Movement". And Lily also shares some of her experiences working in the world of electronics retail. So put on your finest formal attire, and enjoy the show! (No alligator dodging required!)

WARNING: SPOILERS AND MAJOR PLOT POINTS ARE DISCUSSED IN THIS EPISODE! MAKE SURE YOU SEE THE MOVIE BEFORE LISTENING!

Join Scott and special guests Hamish and Paul for this Starkiller-sized discussion and review of the most anticipated movie of the year: "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens"! Listen as they share their own unique opening weekend theater experiences, discuss details of the movie scene-by-scene, highlight the many parallels to the original trilogy, and compare the massive hype to the final product they saw on the screen. They'll share their thoughts on each character, talk about J.J. Abrams' handling of the source material, reveal some hidden cameos, rank The Force Awakens among the other Star Wars films, theorize where the story goes from here, and much more! What questions were answered? What questions were answered? What new questions arose? Han, Leia, Chewbacca, C3PO, R2D2, and Luke? Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, Kylo Ren, Phasma, Hux, and Snoke?
