This time I wanted to join the weekly theme with a song that, although not easy at all, captivated me with its melody from the very first moment: "Volveré." I learned it over the weekend because I felt its title fit perfectly with the theme and what we're sharing this week. Of course, I had to adapt it quite a bit to my vocal range, which isn’t as wide as Rubby Pérez’s, but I did it with enthusiasm.

For this performance, I used a merengue base with conga, tambora, and güira, and recorded my Venezuelan cuatro over it. Here’s the source of the percussion:

A bit of history about this song: "Volveré" was composed by Spanish musicians Paco Cepero and Ignacio Román Jiménez. The first version was a flamenco ballad performed by Chiquetete in 1983. But it was in the 1980s when Rubby Pérez, as the lead singer of Wilfrido Vargas’s orchestra, brought it into the merengue genre with an arrangement by Ramón Orlando, under the Karen Records label. That version became a huge hit and is one many of us remember fondly.

Esta vez quise sumarme al tema de la semana con una canción que, aunque no es nada sencilla, me gustó su melodía desde el primer momento: "Volveré". Me la aprendí en tiempo este fin de semana porque sentí que su nombre encaja perfectamente con el tema y con lo que estamos compartiendo esta semana. Eso sí, tuve que adaptarla bastante a mi registro vocal, que no es tan amplio como el de Rubby Pérez, pero lo hice con entusiasmo

Para esta interpretación, utilicé una base de merengue con conga tambora y Guira sobre ella grabé mi cuatro venezolano. Aquí dejo la fuente de la percusión:

Seguramente que el ritmo del cuatro no es exactamente el original, pero buscando un sonido que me hiciera sentir cómodo, me di cuenta de que la parranda venezolana le daba un aire muy especial y entra en el compás. Así que decidí llevarla por ahí, con ese sabor nuestro. La verdad nunca había interpretado un canción de este género merengue.

Un poco de historia sobre esta canción: "Volveré" fue compuesta por los españoles Paco Cepero e Ignacio Román Jiménez. La primera versión fue una balada flamenca interpretada por Chiquetete en 1983. Pero fue en los años 80 cuando Rubby Pérez, como vocalista de la orquesta de Wilfrido Vargas, la llevó al merengue con un arreglo de Ramón Orlando, bajo el sello Karen Records. Esa versión fue un éxito rotundo y es la que muchos tenemos grabada en la memoria.

Espero que les agrade esta versión que les comparto con mucho respeto y cariño, hecha desde mi rincóncito creativo, con los pocos recursos que tengo a mano, pero sobre todo con muchas ganas de compartir y seguir creciendo junto a ustedes.
