Today I’m joined by Lucy McConnell, a dietitian in the making, wine lover and decadent cheese board creator with a passion for healthy living.

Her love for working out and eating well started innocently like it does for many women, but over time spiralled to a place where her body no longer felt safe and she lost her period not once, but twice. I was lucky enough to work with Lucy to help her recover period, but more than that improve her relationship with her body and food.

Today’s interview is a deep dive into her journey including:

• Her passion for sport and fitness from a young age up until now
• When she realised her healthy lifestyle wasn’t so healthy

Today’s podcast is less science, and more questions of the heart as I answer the question “Should you date during recovery?”

I think this applies to any kind of recovery from a mental health issue such as an eating disorder, depression, anxiety, or a physical health issue like hypothalamic amenorrhea or even a chronic condition like maybe chronic pain or something along those lines.

However, for the purposes of this podcast I’m going to be talking about my experience of dating and how that played into recovery and point out some really key questions you can ask yourself to know if you’re ready or if you are currently in a relationship how to broach the topic with your partner if they don’t know you’re struggling.

Please remember there is no right or wrong answer to this. The only person who knows you best is you!

Despite nearly dropping out of high school, he found success in the industry by surrounding himself with the best in the world - and constantly learning.
