Sex, gender, & sexuality: What do each of these terms really mean, & what are the effects of each term on each of us? 

Micheal tells his story over a series of podcasts to help me shed some light on these questions for you.

Definitions

Sex: physical, biological (male versus female)

Gender: social construct regarding expectations around behavior & emotions that are associated with a particular sex (this is NOT biological)

Sexuality: we discuss the development of sexuality, particularly of sexual attraction

Micheal shares a little bit of his heartbreaking, yet extremely empowering, personal story of self-investigation in this Hollitown podcast. He tells us about his look into his own history to try to understand the development of his sexuality. He shares his story of confusion as to whether he wanted to be a male or a female. 

Details matter. What happens when societal expectations, sexual abuse, and confusion are all a part of someone’s personal history? How can that person make sense of who they are, especially when their experiences started at a very early age? These are some of the questions Micheal has faced on his own personal journey to understanding himself.
