The Spirit of God takes this scared, hiding man named Saul and brings him courage to take the next step, community to support and encourage him and wisdom to win the battle. The Israelites are threatened by their enemy the Ammonites and are needing someone to save them. The Spirit of God rushes on this broken man to use him to bring God glory.

The resurrection of Jesus changed the world. The journey of three people to an empty tomb reveals something of our journey to the a resurrected Jesus. It begins in a place of humbleness and tears, considers what we are pursuing to fix what is broken, encounters a risen Lord and then receives a calling to be his witness.

We meet a young man named Saul who is looking for lost donkeys but ends up finding something much better than he was looking for. God was orchestrating a beautiful story of his divine direction and guidance when on the surface it seemed like the things were falling apart.

When the world is not as it should be, we all turn to something or someone to place our hope in. Misplaced hope never satisfies. It robs and steals your peace and joy and leaves you confused and lost. When you feel your heart drifting to something to put your hope in, ask what it is you really desire. Only hope in Jesus truly satisfies!

No one can stand before a holy God, we all need someone to intercede on our behalf! Knowing that Jesus has brought us near and made a way for us to approach a holy God should change our perspective to come worship and our interaction with others! In these chapters the ark of the Lord is passed around like a holy hot potato and we see that no one can stand before a holy God.

In this tragic chapter, we see the ark of the Lord being captured and the glory of God is no more in Israel. We spend some time thinking about what glory means as well as hear two warning to us in dealing with the glory of God.

The boy Samuel hears the calling from the Lord in a time when the Word of the Lord was rare. He hears God's calling when others can't and responds with "Here I am." He was humble and available.

Guest speaker Joby Crover. Joby leads us in a look at Psalm 92 and how it is indeed Good to give thanks to the Lord. The Psalmist compares the unrighteous to the righteous one in the picture of the grass versus the palm tree.

Several years after God answers Hannah's prayer for a child she returns to the tabernacle and prays a prayer of praise in the same place she had poured out her soul in grief. The prayer of worship comes from a personal experience with a personal God with hope of a king that would come and set things right. Hannah's prayer highlights how God looks on the lowly, humble, and hungry to raise them up and fill them!
