The Venice International Film Festival is one of the oldest film festivals and one of the “Big Five” film festivals held each year. With the coronavirus pandemic this year, no one was sure how exactly the festival would go on as planned. It turned out to be the first major event to take place in Europe since the virus’s outbreak, although with limited capacity and attendees wearing face masks. In honor of this year’s festival which was held from September 2nd to September 12th, here are 32 facts of Venice Film Festival.

In Hollywood, there are many reasons why an actor or director disappears from the spotlight. They can have a bad run of movies, trouble in their personal lives, or decide to step away from it all. There are many stories where a once shining star fades into the background. However, every once in awhile, there is a comeback. An actor gets a role that redefines what they can do. A director tackles a project that reminds audiences that the rust can be washed off. Whatever causes the motivation behind their return, there are a number of actors and directors who felt their work in Hollywood wasn’t done.

Seeing a well-known musician or singer appear in a film is like tasting an old recipe with a newly added ingredient. The flavor can be unexpected and unique. I have yet to see some of the older movies with Frank Sinatra and Cher but I have seen many films with more recent recording artists. There are many reasons why a theatrical cut of a film can be vastly different from the original vision of the director. Sometimes it is the runtime going too long; other times, the studio financing the film has creative differences with the director. This can be a good thing. There are many films where the director’s cut completely changed the movie in a way that did not sit well with viewers. The opposite, where the director’s cut gave the film a superior experience to the theatrical version, is what this article will focus on. A section for alternate endings will also be discussed, for the same reason. Some of these also have director’s cuts but are on the list for focus on their alternate endings.
