David Archuleta is opening up about his life, career and the experiences behind his memoir, Devout.
The American Idol alum sits down with Hollywood ReelTime to discuss his journey of coming out after growing up Mormon, why revisiting his childhood while writing Devout led him back to therapy, and how longtime friend Jennette McCurdy helped convince him to finally write his story. Archuleta says McCurdy, whom he first met when he guest-starred on iCarly as a teenager, even connected him with the team behind her bestselling memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died.
Archuleta also looks back at his American Idol days and his friendship with Jordin Sparks, who he says served as a mentor after winning the season before he competed. Nearly 18 years later, the two teamed up for the holiday duet “Wish at the Top of My List.”
Plus, David talks about his Christmas album Warm Me Up, why he says he’s still in his “flirty era,” releasing music on cassette, and the classic Christmas song he admits he has never been a fan of. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See https://pcm.adswizz.com
