Jack moves from Missouri to Hollywood with his newly pregnant wife to follow his dreams of being an actor.  Ernie hires Jack a WWII veteran to work at his gas station. Jack is completely caught off guard about the kind of work he is asked to perform.  Jack meets Archie an aspiring screenwriter and refers him to perform services at the gas station.
