  • Family Show 2/16/24 - This Lent, Tear the Roof Off

What is Lent about for you?  Is Lent about what you choose to give up, or is Lent about what God eagerly wants to give you?  Is Lent forty days of grief before Easter or forty days to prepare for a party like no other?  If you’re ready to embrace the hope that this Easter God wants to give you gifts that will blow your doors off, then start rolling the stone away with Eleanor, Brenda, and Randy as they prepare to encounter the God who is always good, who is always close, and who always acts, out of love, on His goodness.

  • Candid Catholic Convos 02-11-2024 SUPERBOWL
Candid Catholic Convos 2.11.24 - REPEAT EPISODE

A weekly program produced by the Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg, Pa.

    SHOW DESCRIPTION:

Sports are, in so many ways, like a religion. Like religion, sports can convey important lessons about culture and values. But as much as you could compare sports to organized religion, practicing your actual faith on the field, at least on a national level, was strongly discouraged, until a few weeks ago. So it begs the question – are faith and athletics intrinsincly linked? To unpack this, Eric Kindler, the former athletic director for Trinity High School, and Jordan Hill, Trinity’s head football coach and former NFL player in his own right, join me to talk about their journeys of faith and how in informs their leadership with the next generation of players.

  • Candid Catholic Convos 02-04-2024 FISH FRY DAYS
    Candid Catholic Convos - 2.4.24

    SHOW DESCRIPTION:

In just 10 short days, we will begin the season of Lent – honestly it feels like Christmas was yesterday – and with that, comes meatless Fridays. Enter the local parish fish fry. This generations old practice has been a staple in Catholic communities dating back to prohibition when they were used to disguise speakeasies to keep the bars from going under financially and even further overseas. Just like at Christmas or Thanksgiving or birthdays or any given Tuesday, food is celebratory, it’s traditional, it brings us together. Friday Fish Frys are no different. But why fish? Why Fridays? And why did it change from no meat on every Friday to just no meat on Fridays during Lent? Today we’re welcoming back Father Jonathan Sawicki, pastor at St. Theresa’s church in New Cumberland to share with us the rich history of this tradition, why fish is the main dish, and how strong this ministry of Friday Fish Frys still is today.
