We take the soil for granted. In fact, the soil is the holy ground: the foundation of human development, our main food supplier, and one of the best, natural carbon emissions capture devices.
The cost of our progress includes - among many other damages - soil erosion. For a few people, soil erosion means that their oceanside properties are becoming unstable. For all of us, soil erosion is a warning sign of impending global hunger.
The available solutions (agroecology, agroforestry, etc.) are implemented at a record-slow speed because the things that are good for the Earth and for us are threatening the existence of multi-billion agrochemical corporations and other companies that benefit from industrial agriculture.
There are however steps that you can take in support of soil health and your own health, right now.
